Job summary

Bristol Myers Squibb is seeking an Associate Director to lead the Machine Learning Sciences team in Cambridge, MA. This high-visibility role reports to the Executive Director of Small Molecule Computational Sciences and shapes scientific direction while building a talented team of ML scientists.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Chemistry, Computational Chemistry, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience applying machine learning methods to chemistry- or drug discovery problems (e.g., ADMET/PK, property prediction).
• Track record leading teams or projects with measurable scientific impact.
• Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate complex concepts to non-computational scientists.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of machine learning scientists focused on ADMET/PK prediction and multiparameter design for small molecules.
• Set scientific strategy and priorities for the Machine Learning Sciences team.
• Partner cross-functionally with portfolio-facing scientists to embed ML predictions into project workflows.
• Drive model predictivity through rigorous validation, benchmarking, and data-driven iteration.
• Scan external landscape to identify and evaluate new approaches and adoption where appropriate.
• Represent ML Sciences in cross-departmental forums and communicate results to leadership.
• Mentor and develop team members to foster scientific rigor, collaboration and innovation.
• Contribute to departmental strategy as a member of Computational Sciences leadership.
