Responsibilities

  • Lead the logistics financial operating rhythm, including monthly performance reviews, executive commentary, year-over-year cost walks, trend analysis, risk and opportunity assessment, and action follow-through.
  • Provide decision support for transportation, warehousing, distribution, network, carrier, freight-audit, and third-party logistics initiatives.
  • Drive freight-spend reporting and self-service analytics with standardized definitions and adopted dashboards.
  • Partners on commercial and financial reviews of freight agreements and transition costs; escalate issues that disrupt operations or distort results.

Job description

The Director, Logistics Finance, serves as the senior finance partner to the enterprise Logistics organization, providing strategic financial leadership across freight, transportation, warehousing, distribution centers, customs-related logistics activity, freight audit and payment, and third-party logistics services. The role owns the financial operating rhythm for logistics costs, translating operational performance into clear P&L insights, forecasts, risks, opportunities, and actions. This leader strengthens cost visibility, productivity governance, planning discipline, data quality, and accountability while partnering across Logistics, Strategic Sourcing, business finance, controllership, technology, and shared services.

This role will report to the Vice President, ISC Finance and located in Chalotte, North Carolina.

Responsibilities
Financial leadership and business partnership
  • Serve as the senior finance partner to Logistics leadership and business stakeholders, framing decisions through total landed cost, P&L impact, cash, service, and risk considerations.
  • Lead the logistics financial operating rhythm, including monthly performance reviews, executive commentary, year-over-year cost walks, trend analysis, risk and opportunity assessment, and action follow-through.
  • Provide decision support for transportation, warehousing, distribution, network, carrier, freight-audit, and third-party logistics initiatives.
Planning, forecasting, and performance management
  • Lead freight and warehousing planning, forecasting, and annual operating plan development, with standardized assumptions, accrual approaches, and clear ownership across businesses.
  • Monitor actual performance against AOP, forecast, prior year, and productivity commitments; identify drivers such as volume, mix, premium freight, non-contract spend, one-time items, inflation, and project savings.
  • Ensure validated logistics savings are reflected consistently in financial plans and year-over-year reporting before recognition.
Productivity, inflation, and value creation
  • Govern freight and warehouse productivity pipelines, coverage, validation, realization, and reporting in partnership with Logistics and Sourcing.
  • Guide warehouse inflation methodology and support network and distribution-center analyses, including consolidation and cost-to-serve opportunities.
Data, reporting, and transformation
  • Sponsor improvements to freight-spend and invoice-level reporting, including service level, mode, vendor classification, premium-cost drivers, freight auditor, and other analytical dimensions needed by Finance.
  • Reduce manual reporting and offline processing by advancing enterprise data views, dashboards, standardized definitions, automated year-over-year walks, and self-service analytics.
  • Drive adoption of reporting that improves data quality, consistency, cost visibility, and decision making across Logistics and business finance teams.
Governance, controls, and external partners
  • Partner on commercial and financial review of freight-audit and logistics service agreements, proposals, billing structures, purchase orders, credits, and transition costs.
  • Escalate and resolve material carrier-payment, past-due, audit, or reporting issues that can disrupt operations or distort financial results.
Qualifications
  • Progressive finance leadership experience in a global, matrixed organization, including FP&A, operational finance, controllership, or supply-chain finance.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead planning, forecasting, productivity, performance reporting, and executive business partnership for complex cost structures.
  • Working knowledge of transportation, freight, warehousing, distribution, freight audit and payment, third-party logistics, and logistics data flows.
  • Strong analytical, financial modeling, systems, and data-visualization capability, with the ability to simplify complex operational and financial topics.
  • Executive presence, sound judgment, high integrity, and the ability to influence across functions without relying on direct authority.
  • Proven people leadership, talent development, change leadership, and process-transformation capability.
