Job summary

Grid United is seeking a Director of Development to lead the development of large-scale electric transmission projects from evaluation through permitting, commercial advancement, and construction readiness.

As the primary development leader, you will set project strategy, drive key decisions, manage risk, and coordinate teams across land, routing, environmental, regulatory, engineering, and finance. The role may be based in Houston, TX or near an active project area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree helpful.
• Experience leading complex infrastructure projects through multiple stages.
• Experience in land routing, permitting, environmental review, and stakeholder engagement.
• Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development of one or more large-scale transmission projects from early-stage evaluation through permitting and construction readiness.
• Develop and manage project strategies, budgets, schedules, risk registers, and executive reporting.
• Coordinate cross-functional work across land, routing, environmental, regulatory, engineering, commercial, legal, finance and communications teams.
• Oversee permitting strategies at local, state, and federal levels, including NEPA and regulatory proceedings.
• Build relationships with landowners, utilities, regulators, and community stakeholders.
