Job summary

Piedmont Columbus Midtown is seeking an experienced Laboratory Department leader to plan, direct, and monitor strategic and tactical goals in collaboration with the Medical Director.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology required; or an Associate in Medical Technology with 7 years of Medical Technologist experience.
• Master's degree in Healthcare Administration preferred.
• Certification in medical technology or ASCP/AMT/AAB certification strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and monitor strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department in collaboration with the Medical Director.
• Manage day-to-day administration including financial, operational and HR issues.
• Develop and approve policies; ensure compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies.
• Foster an efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with physicians, nursing and outreach clinics.

Directs, monitors and manages all day-to-day administrative aspects of the department, including financial, operational and human resource issues. Develops and approves technical and operational policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Creates a highly efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with customers (physicians, nursing, and outreach clinics). Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality are followed and maintained.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology, or other acceptable science from a recognized college or university. Required or
• In Lieu of Bachelor's degree, Associates in Medical Technology and 7 years of Medical Technologist experience Required
• Master's degree in Business Administration or Health Administration Preferred

Work Experience

• 5 years clinical experience and progressive leadership experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts). AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
