Job Summary: Vanderbilt University Medical Center seeks a Director IT to guide business improvements through data analysis; forecast complex resource needs; direct team to produce graphical and textual work products to meet stakeholder’s needs, including architectural diagrams, process flows, use cases, and wireframes using Unified Modeling Language (UML) standards; identify, establish, and evaluate quality assurance standards, programs, and procedures within the department; ensure the most effective operation of the unit/area through program development, process improvement, and coordination of process across functions; and meet with other technical personnel to determine causes of specific problems. Provide strategic direction and lead the VUMC IT Media and Communications department, which is responsible for creating communications content using multiple media (email, podcasts, websites, videos, news articles, etc…) on behalf of VUMC IT. Develop an effective enterprise-wide communication strategy and track analytics. Provide strategic direction and lead the VUMC IT Training department, which is responsible for teaching VUMC employees about newly deployed software and equipment resulting from recently implemented VUMC IT projects. Work with VUMC IT’s technical teams to create an innovative support infrastructure for distributed learning. Create enterprise, department, and role‑specific training to address training needs related to the VUMC enterprise. Provide strategic direction, coordination, and development of VUMC enterprise‑wide strategic programs. Develop and present recommendations, market research, and original ideas for execution. Create executive presentations outlining directions and approach for high‑visibility projects.

EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical field and five (5) years of experience in each of the following:

  • Directing a team to produce graphical and textual work products to meet stakeholder’s needs, including architectural diagrams, process flows, use cases, and wireframes using Unified Modeling Language (UML) standards;
  • Collaborating with executives, cross‑functional teams, and external partners to align IT objectives with business needs;
  • Developing and enforcing IT processes, workflows, and strategic plans to align technology initiatives with business goals and drive efficiency;
  • Forecasting complex resource needs using data analysis.

Position is available for up to 95% remote work. Must live within the Nashville, TN commuting area.
