Job summary

XL Parts and The Parts House (TPH) a Marubeni Group is seeking a Purchasing Manager to lead purchasing and inventory planning, turning demand forecasts into actionable purchasing strategies that meet service levels and budget targets.

Reporting to the VP of Supply Chain, you will manage the Buyer team, optimize purchase orders, oversee inventory replenishment, and drive continuous improvements in planning processes and supplier performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field; strong analytical and financial acumen.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in purchasing, supply chain, inventory management or demand planning.
• 5+ years of people management experience, preferably leading Buyers and purchasing teams.
• Experience in multi-location distribution or retail environments is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of purchasing, inventory planning, forecasting, budgeting, supplier management, and PO management.
• Proficient with ERP, Excel, and analytical/reporting tools; capable of translating data into actionable plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Buyer team with clear expectations and accountability.
• Oversee purchasing activities and ensure POs are accurate and on schedule.
• Manage inventory planning and replenishment to meet customer demand and service levels.
• Ensure purchases align with demand, lead times, and inventory targets.
• Monitor inventory metrics such as fill rate, turns, and days of supply.
• Identify shortages or excess inventory and drive corrective actions.
• Develop purchasing forecasts based on sales, COGS, and seasonality.
• Manage purchasing activity against budgets and forecasts.
• Translate inventory objectives into actionable purchasing plans for the team.
• Monitor open/due POs and resolve supplier delays and exceptions.
• Standardize supplier performance metrics (lead times, fill rate, accuracy).
• Collaborate with Merchandising, Finance, and Operations to achieve objectives.
• Coach and develop the Buyer team and establish KPI tracking.
