GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Director of Inventory Control & Analysis (FP&A) will lead financial planning, forecasting, and business analytics functions for Ross as it relates to Inventory and Gross Margin. As a key leader within the finance team, the role provides critical insights and decision support to senior leadership, helping drive financial and operational performance, profitability, and strategic initiatives. The Director also owns the creation of various financial reports and board‑level updates to support our Senior Executives (including "C" level executives), the Board of Directors, and the Investor Relations department. This is a high‑impact, forward‑thinking finance leadership role that thrives in a fast‑paced, results‑driven environment. The Director reports to the Vice President of Inventory Control and interacts regularly with all levels across the company.

Base salary range: $137,400 – $259,050. The range depends on experience, skills, qualifications, education, certifications, seniority, and location. It represents one component of the total compensation package.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team, fostering a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Engage with business partners across the organization to understand key drivers and strategies that impact financial performance and metrics.
  • Perform complex ad‑hoc analysis on key inventory metrics (inventory, markdowns, sales) based on business needs or management requests, and clearly articulate results and business impacts to all levels of management, including preparing PowerPoint recaps.
  • Support Senior Executives, the Board of Directors, and Investor Relations by providing board‑level updates and analysis of sales, gross‑margin results, and forecasts, and inventory positions in stores and distribution centers.
  • Own the updating and enhancement of the In‑Store inventory and production planning model used by executives for financial planning and inventory position reviews.
  • Partner closely with business partners to solicit inputs and provide feedback on inventory and sales metrics for In‑Store inventory.
  • Manage and provide impact analysis on in‑store inventory and other key metrics driven by recent results, weekly forecast updates, and variance analysis, with prepared notes for weekly In‑Store calls.
  • Drive the annual gross‑margin and inventory budget process, providing analytics to senior leaders.
  • Collaborate with business partners (e.g., Store & DC Ops) to improve operational metrics that correlate to data integrity and accurate shrink results.
  • Evaluate internal reporting, make recommendations, and oversee execution of improvements in timeliness, efficiency, and accuracy of existing reporting procedures.
  • Lead system projects, modifications, enhancements, and implementations, including requirements documentation and testing.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
  • BS degree, preferably in Finance or Accounting; MBA a plus.
  • Minimum of 7 to 10 years post‑college experience with demonstrated success at increasing levels of responsibility, including managing a team.
  • Dynamic and self‑motivated, with the business acumen and drive necessary for a fast‑paced, changing retail environment.
  • Retail and inventory experience a plus.
  • Strong analytical ability, capable of synthesizing data, error‑checking, reconciling work, and designing analysis to answer specific questions.
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, manage, and develop high‑performing staff.
  • Strong Excel, Word, and ability to learn multiple backend software applications (e.g., MicroStrategy, Hyperion, PeopleSoft Financial Systems).
  • Proficient at interacting with all levels within the organization and handling matters professionally.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to create PowerPoint presentations as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS / ADA:

Job requires ability to work in an office environment, primarily on a computer. Requires sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking on the telephone, attending in‑person meetings, typing, and working with paper/files. Consistent timeliness and regular attendance are required. Vision requirements: ability to see information in print and/or electronically.

This role requires regular in‑office presence, including in‑person team interaction, meetings, collaboration, client support, mentoring, coaching, and/or feedback. However, the role can perform duties effectively with a combination of in‑office and remote work. #LI-Hybrid.
