Job summary

West Virginia University Foundation seeks a senior internal audit leader to oversee the Foundation's internal audit program, test information across accounting, HR, IT and compliance, and ensure independence and objectivity. The role evaluates controls and coordinates with university personnel and external auditors.

The incumbent develops audit plans, directs staff, manages the budget, and maintains audit policies while supporting ERM initiatives and governance through the Audit Committee.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field; professional certifications preferred.
• Five+ years in public accounting or internal auditing; supervisory experience.
• Experience with not-for-profit organizations preferred.
• Experience with large computerized accounting systems and controls.

Responsibilities

• Performs audits following the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.
• Plans, implements, and evaluates short/long-range objectives of Internal Audit Office.
• Coordinates with external auditors and reports to the Audit Committee.
• Develops audit programs, evaluates internal controls, and tests system design and reporting.
• Advises on internal control and risk management and chairs or participates in ERM activities.
