The Director, Interceptor Services is responsible for the comprehensive management and strategic direction of the Interceptor Services business unit within the Environmental Services Division. This role involves setting a clear vision and high standards for the unit, ensuring that organizational goals and policies are achieved while fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and collaboration. The Director will develop and implement business strategies that align with emerging industry trends and customer needs, ensuring operational efficiency, regulatory compliance, and financial stability. This position also plays a pivotal role in driving innovation, managing large-scale infrastructure, and representing the division in various forums.
Any of the following combinations of completed education (in engineering, wastewater treatment and technology, management, or related field) and experience (in wastewater collection system maintenance or related field):
Minnesota Pollution Control Agency S-A Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator Certificate or the ability to obtain within 24 months.

It is anticipated that a minimum of 25% of time will be spent in the field at various work locations throughout the seven-county metropolitan area. Work is divided between the field, with exposure to malodorous conditions, outdoor weather, and a normal office environment. Position may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles and occasionally to wet, humid conditions and toxic or caustic chemicals. There is occasional exposure to extreme heat and risk of electrical shock. This position works near moving parts and equipment, is frequently required to travel by car locally, and may be required to work at night and on weekends.

If you are new to the Metropolitan Council, you must pass a background check which verifies education, employment, and criminal history. A driving record check and/or physical may be conducted if applicable to the job. If you have a criminal conviction, you do not automatically fail. The Metropolitan Council considers felony, gross misdemeanor and misdemeanor convictions on a case-by-case basis, based on whether they are related to the job and whether the candidate has demonstrated adequate rehabilitation.
