Job summary

IDEAYA Biosciences, located in South San Francisco, is seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Attorney to support its small molecule program. The role reports to the VP of Intellectual Property and requires onsite work four days per week.

The ideal candidate has a Ph.D. in Chemistry or related field, a JD from an ABA-accredited school, CA Bar admission, and USPTO registration with 7+ years of pharma IP experience. Competitive compensation and benefits are offered.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Chemistry or Master’s in Organic Chemistry.
• Juris Doctorate from an ABA-accredited law school and CA Bar in good standing.
• Registered before the USPTO; 7+ years IP counsel experience in pharma small molecules.

Responsibilities

• Global IP portfolio management and patent prosecution for small molecules.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify patentable inventions.
• Conduct freedom-to-operate analyses and advise on IP strategy.
• Manage external counsel and coordinate filings with collaborators and licensors.
• Provide internal IP training and help build IP department infrastructure.
