Job Description

OPEN TO PERMANENT HEALTH SERVICES MANAGERS.

The Injury and Violence Prevention Program (IVPP) monitors injury and violence in New York City, identifies at-risk populations, disseminates data, and provides technical assistance on prevention policies and programs related to traffic injuries, interpersonal violence, suicide, falls among older adults, and child injuries.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  1. Expanding the traffic safety portfolio through programmatic and analytic efforts.
  2. Planning and managing tasks aligned with SMART (specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely) goals.
  3. Overseeing analytic priorities, plans, and products for injury prevention projects.
  4. Supervising staff, guiding analytic work, providing feedback, and fostering professional development.
  5. Ensuring data acquisition, protection, management, analysis, and communication standards are met.
  6. Supporting surveillance projects, managing large datasets, data cleaning, and analysis.
  7. Developing data products for dissemination and presenting findings to stakeholders.
  8. Managing staffing and spending plans for grants and programs.
  9. Identifying research opportunities to inform policy and program priorities.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in injury epidemiology and public health.
  • Project management and team leadership skills.
  • Proficiency in statistics and data manipulation tools (SAS, STATA, R).
  • Strong report and presentation skills with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to interpret epidemiologic data and scientific literature.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Experience managing staff and research projects.
  • Knowledge of injury and violence as public health issues.
  • PhD in epidemiology or related field preferred.
