Job description

Osanni Bio is a development-stage therapeutics platform, headquartered in San Francisco, California. We are creative and agile innovators, relentlessly curious about finding new ways to target the biology behind diseases with the greatest unmet need and determined to do something about it.

At the center of Osanni is its innovation engine, which is optimized for discovering new scientific insights, designing novel drug concepts, and efficiently advancing programs to a meaningful proof-of-concept. Once a program is sufficiently de-risked, it graduates into its ecosystem of affiliate companies, which are equipped with the dedicated focus, specialized talent and support necessary to scale. Osanni's architecture marries the scientific depth and operational power of a centralized platform with the speed, agility and accountability of independent companies. The result: an opportunity to create and deliver more transformative medicines.

We hold patients and the physicians who care for them as our North Star. It guides our purpose, sharpens our decision-making, and defines our impact. Osanni is currently advancing programs in ophthalmology, cardiology and beyond. We are building a highly skilled team, passionate about having an impact on human health. Be part of creating an organization where people enjoy their work and their colleagues, are valued for their individuality, and can't imagine working anywhere else.

Our Values:

Osanni is guided by three core values: Integrity + Impact, because we give a hoot; Agility + Accountability, so we swoop and soar; and Collaboration + Connection, to be one Osanni Flock. Together, they shape how our team shows up for patients, for each other, and for the mission.

About the Role: The Director, IT is responsible for building and leading Osanni's technology foundation, including infrastructure, security, business systems, and AI for business operations, across our hub-and-spoke model. Sitting within the Finance organization, this individual contributor role will set up and scale IT for the hub and its Avian companies (spokes), lead the IT side of spin-outs and acquisitions, and work closely with leadership to find and use AI tools that make operations more efficient. As Osanni grows from a development-stage biotech, this role will make sure our systems, data, and technology can keep pace with our science and our business.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on, resourceful technology leader who is just as comfortable setting strategy with executives as setting up a cloud environment or fixing an access problem. They bring sound judgment and operational discipline, along with real curiosity about AI and how it can change the way a company works. They thrive in ambiguity and move quickly without cutting corners, in the "swoop and soar" spirit of Agility + Accountability. They also build trusted, service-minded partnerships across the Osanni Flock and our Avian companies.

What You Will Do:

  • Build, own, and scale Osanni's IT infrastructure, systems, and security across a hub-and-spoke model, so the hub and each Avian company has reliable, compliant, cost-effective technology.
  • Lead the IT side of separating entities during spin-outs, acquisitions, and new company formation, including tenant and domain separation, data migration, access changes, licensing, and transition services agreements.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to leadership in finding, evaluating, and rolling out AI tools and automation that make business operations more efficient across G&A functions.
  • Lead AI for business operations, including governance, acceptable use policies, vendor evaluation, training, and adoption, so employees use AI tools safely and effectively.
  • Provide hands-on IT generalist support to the AI for discovery and drug development lead, including environment setup, cloud resources, access, and tooling, so scientific AI efforts stay focused on R&D.
  • Partner with the CFO (and the CBO in the interim) on IT budget, vendor contracts, SaaS spend management, and selecting and supporting financial and ERP systems.
  • Design and manage a cybersecurity and data protection program, including identity and access management, endpoint protection, backup and disaster recovery, and incident response, that fits a growing life sciences company.
  • Partner with Lab Operations and Facilities to support lab instruments, scientific data systems, network connectivity, and technology for the office and lab workplace strategy.
  • Work with People & Culture to deliver a smooth employee technology experience, including onboarding provisioning, offboarding access removal, hardware, and help desk support.
  • Build and manage relationships with managed service providers, consultants, and vendors, holding them accountable for service levels and making smart build, buy, or outsource decisions.
  • Support IT compliance and data integrity needs as programs move forward, including computer system validation and GxP readiness where needed, working with Quality and Legal.
  • Juggle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, changing environment, making sure work is done accurately and on time, while performing other related duties as required.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft, AWS, Google Cloud, CISSP, or ITIL) are a plus.
  • 10+ years of progressive IT experience, including at least 5 years in an IT leadership role covering infrastructure, security, and business systems.
  • Proven experience building IT infrastructure from the ground up and scaling it across multiple legal entities, ideally in a hub-and-spoke, holding company, or portfolio model.
  • Direct experience with spin-outs, divestitures, or acquisitions, including untangling and separating systems, tenants, domains, data, and access between entities.
  • Strong AI fluency, with a track record of identifying, evaluating, and deploying AI tools and automation that make business operations measurably more efficient, plus a working knowledge of AI governance and responsible use.
  • Hands-on expertise with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, identity and access management (e.g., Okta, Entra ID), endpoint management, and networking.
  • Solid grounding in cybersecurity and data protection practices, including backup, disaster recovery, and incident response, ideally at a growing company.
  • Experience supporting financial and business systems (e.g., ERP, expense, and HRIS platforms) and managing IT budgets, vendor contracts, and SaaS spend.
  • Experience managing MSPs, consultants, and vendors, and comfort working as a hands-on individual contributor who moves easily between strategy and execution.
  • Biotech, pharma, or life sciences experience strongly preferred, including support for lab environments and scientific data systems. Familiarity with GxP, computer system validation, or 21 CFR Part 11 is a plus.
  • Experience at a venture-backed startup or in a similarly fast-paced, changing environment, with comfort building process and structure where little exists.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain technical topics clearly to non-technical audiences, use good discretion with sensitive information, and build trusted partnerships at every level.
