Descripción de la vacante

Alliance of Professionals & Consultants, Inc. (APC) seeks an experienced Enterprise Architect to bridge business strategy and technology across core insurance platforms. You will maintain capability maps, refine target architectures, and guide both business units and delivery teams toward scalable, compliant solutions.

Strong communication with executives is essential. The role combines business and technical leadership, with autonomy to shape the enterprise TSA and drive architecture decisions

Formación

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise, business, or solution architecture.
  • Extensive Life & Annuity insurance technology on the carrier side.
  • Hands-on experience with policy administration systems (LifePro experience a strong plus).
  • Proven experience building business capability maps and process architecture.
  • Solid grounding in cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and data architecture concepts.
  • Experience operating in or building toward a target operating model with autonomy.
  • Strong stakeholder management; translate between business and technical language.
  • Familiarity with regulatory considerations relevant to a national L&A carrier.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field; enterprise architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF) a plus.

Responsabilidades

  • Maintain, extend, and mature existing business capability maps across underwriting, policy administration, claims, distribution, and member services.
  • Validate and refine the target-state architecture; close gaps as new initiatives surface them.
  • Document and rationalize core business processes; identify redundancy, gaps, and opportunities for simplification ahead of technology investment.
  • Translate business strategy and roadmaps into architecture for Technology Services planning.
  • Support TSA by clarifying capability ownership and boundaries across Technology Services, Digital, Data, Security, and business.
  • Act as trusted advisor to business unit leaders on alignment with target capability roadmap.
  • Own and evolve enterprise architecture standards and reference architectures across core platforms.
  • Evaluate proposed solutions for architectural fit, scalability, and alignment to target-state architecture.
  • Serve as a voting member of SARB, reviewing significant technology decisions.
  • Partner with Data on data architecture decisions intersecting with capabilities.
  • Provide architectural guidance to delivery partners to ensure designs conform to standards.
  • Collaborate with Digital throughout software development to ensure well-designed, well-integrated systems.

Descripción del empleo

  • Business Architecture (60%)Maintain, extend, and mature existing business capability maps, deepening current-state and target-state views across underwriting, policy administration, claims, distribution, and member services as the organization evolves
  • Validate and refine the existing target-state architecture against emerging business needs, closing gaps and resolving inconsistencies as new initiatives surface them
  • Document and rationalize core business processes, identifying redundancy, gaps, and opportunities for simplification ahead of technology investment
  • Partner with Digital and Business leadership to translate business strategy and product roadmaps into architecture that Technology Services can plan against
  • Support the ongoing Technology Target State Architecture (TSA) effort by clarifying capability ownership for the enterprise architecture and stewardship of the TSA and boundaries across the Technology Services, Digital, Data, Security, and business.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to business unit leaders on how proposed initiatives align (or conflict) with target capability roadmap
  • Technical Architecture (40%)Own and evolve enterprise architecture standards and existing target-state reference architectures across its core platforms (AWS, LifePro, Pega, Sureify, Snowflake, M365, SmartComm, OpenText, and related systems), extending them as new capabilities and initiatives emerge
  • Evaluate proposed solutions and integrations for architectural fit, scalability, and alignment to target-state architecture
  • Serve as a voting member of the Security & Architecture Review Board (SARB), reviewing and approving significant technology and vendor decisions
  • Partner with the Data tower on data architecture decisions that intersect with business capabilities (e.g., Snowflake data warehouse, LifePro-sourced data flows)
  • Provide architectural guidance to delivery partners to ensure solution designs conform to architecture standards
  • Partner directly with the Digital team throughout software development to ensure systems and integrations are well-designed, well-integrated, and built to architecture standards - reviewing designs and integration patterns before and during build, not just at governance checkpoints
  • Cross-Functional LeadershipPresent architecture recommendations and trade-offs to executive stakeholders in clear, business-relevant terms
  • Contribute architecture perspective to governance bodies and policy work as broader governance framework matures
  • Work closely with Digital and Business teams as a standing architectural partner -engaged throughout the software development lifecycle on design and integration, but not accountable for project execution or delivery timelines
Required Skills & Experience:
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise, business, or solution architecture, with demonstrated ability to work across both business and technical domains
  • Extensive experience in Life & Annuity insurance technology, on the carrier side (required), deep familiarity with core carrier processes such as new business/underwriting, policy administration, illustrations, in-force servicing, claims, and distribution/agent management
  • Hands-on experience with policy administration systems (LifePro experience a strong plus) and the broader carrier technology ecosystem (e.g., illustration systems, agent/producer portals, correspondence/SmartComm-type platforms, in-force data flows)
  • Proven experience building business capability maps and process architecture within a life/annuity or broader insurance carrier environment
  • Solid grounding in technical/solution architecture - cloud platforms (AWS preferred), core administration systems, CRM/workflow platforms, and data architecture concepts
  • Experience operating in or building toward a target operating model, including capability-based org design
  • Comfort operating as a senior individual contributor with high autonomy - this role carries architect-level authority without direct reports
  • Strong stakeholder management skills; ability to translate between business language and technical language fluently
  • Familiarity with regulatory considerations relevant to a national L&A carrier
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Business, Information Systems, Computer Science) or equivalent experience; enterprise architecture certification (e.g., TOGAF) a plus
