Job/Role Description:

We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Director, Human Resources Business Partner to help build the leadership, talent, and performance infrastructure to scale Jaan Health.

Reporting to the Vice President, Talent Management, this leader will serve as a trusted advisor to executives and people leaders while owning critical programs across leadership development, learning and development, performance management, employee relations, organizational effectiveness, and change management.

This is not a traditional HRBP role focused primarily on day-to-day employee support. The Director will help leaders raise the performance bar, strengthen accountability, develop high-performing teams, navigate organizational change, and build repeatable people practices as the company grows.

The ideal candidate has successfully built people programs from the ground up, can coach senior leaders through complex situations, and is equally comfortable designing strategy and personally driving execution. This role requires strong judgment, business acumen, operational discipline, and the ability to create structure in a fast-moving environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Partner with people leaders on organizational effectiveness, leadership capability, workforce planning, performance, and talent decisions.
  • In partnership with the VP, Talent Management, build, design and lead company-wide performance management practices, including leadership development, goal setting, feedback, calibration, talent reviews, and accountability.
  • Coach leaders through complex employee relations, performance, team dynamics, organizational change, and difficult people decisions.
  • Develop scalable HRBP frameworks, tools, and operating rhythms that improve consistency, clarity, and manager ownership across the organization.
  • Partner with Talent Acquisition and business leaders on organizational design, succession planning, internal mobility, and critical talent needs.
  • Use people data, business metrics, and employee insights to identify organizational risks, recommend solutions, and measure the impact of people initiatives.
  • Lead cross-functional people initiatives that strengthen culture, employee experience, leadership effectiveness, and organizational performance.
Requirements:
  • 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including significant HR Business Partner in a start-up healthcare organization designing and leading new programs.
  • Demonstrated success building Leadership Development, Learning & Development, and Performance Management programs from the ground up.
  • Strong experience managing complex employee relations, performance management, investigations, and organizational change.
  • Experience supporting high-growth, fast-paced evolving, or transformation-stage organizations where structure and processes are still being built.
  • Strong business and organizational acumen with the ability to connect people strategies to company goals and operating performance.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence leaders, challenge constructively, and drive accountability without relying solely on formal authority.
  • Experienced working with Lattice as a performance management system and identifying/leading L&D systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, Organizational Development, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Preferred requirements:
  • Experience supporting healthcare, healthcare technology, technology-enabled services, or another fast-growing professional environment.
  • Experience with organizational design, succession planning, talent calibration, and leadership assessment.
  • SHRM-SCP, SPHR, coaching, change management, or related professional certification.
  • Entrepreneurial DNA: A 'builder' mentality with the ability to operate effectively in high-ambiguity environments where processes may not be fully fleshed out.
Work style & logistics (drive home location and travel reqs here):

We are a fast-growing, early-stage company with a bold mission and significant work ahead; every employee at Jaan Health must embody growth company DNA. This means you have proven success in a high-performing environment: high velocity, strong ownership, comfort with ambiguity, resilience, and a true growth mindset.

You are both a playbook builder and executor, able to design scalable approaches for today while anticipating what the business will need tomorrow, and then follow through to deliver results.

Our culture is built on five principles that shape how we work, lead, and grow:

  • Care: We put patients, clients, teammates, and outcomes first.
  • Curiosity: We ask better questions, challenge assumptions, and keep learning.
  • Clarity: We simplify complexity, communicate directly, and create alignment.
  • Co-Creation: We collaborate across teams, perspectives, and disciplines.
  • Craftsmanship: We execute with excellence, ownership, and continuous improvement.
Our Compensation & Benefits
  • Location: 5-days near Bolingbrook/ Chicago, IL
  • Travel Expectations: up to 20%
  • Job Type: Full time
  • Job Reports To: Vice President, Talent Management
  • Competitive compensation based on experience and impact
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and dependents at a low cost
  • Generous Paid Time Off: up to 35 paid days off each year so you can recharge, recover, and give back, including:
    • 12 vacation days accrued annually for rest, travel, and personal time
    • Up to 9 sick/wellness days to prioritize your health and well-being
    • 12 paid company holidays throughout the year
    • 2 Paid Give-Back Days to volunteer and make a meaningful impact in the communities you care about
  • HSA and FSA account options
  • 401(k) with company match after 6 months of full-time employment
    • 100% match on the first 3% contributed, and 50% match on the next 2% contributed
  • A collaborative, mission-driven team helping transform healthcare at scale

If you take pride in delivering results, embrace challenges, and proactively seek improvement, then this is the place for you. You’ll join a smart, humble, and collaborative team dedicated to improving healthcare.
