The University of Southern California ICT seeks a Director of Human Performance Optimization to lead applied research that improves service member readiness, training effectiveness, and decision support. The Director will oversee DoW-sponsored programs spanning physiological monitoring, wearables, training science, and data-driven assessment.

Qualifications

• PhD or equivalent in a relevant field.
• 10+ years of progressively responsible research leadership.
• Proven success managing complex multi-year programs.
• Experience securing externally funded research.
• Experience communicating complex findings to diverse audiences.
• Knowledge of DoW priorities and transition processes.

Responsabilités

• Lead a portfolio of applied research programs focused on human performance, readiness, training, assessment, and operational decision-making.
• Define technical strategy and research priorities with sponsors, ICT leadership, and collaborators.
• Develop, submit, and manage proposals and funded projects for DoW and related sponsors.
• Direct multidisciplinary teams through all phases of project execution.
• Design and oversee studies involving physiological, cognitive, behavioral, and performance data.
• Guide development of wearable-monitoring approaches, performance measures, and training technologies.
• Translate research findings into usable products and transition plans for stakeholders.
• Establish relationships with Navy, Marine Corps, and broader DoW communities.
• Produce peer-reviewed publications, technical reports, and briefings.
• Present findings at sponsor meetings and conferences.
• Mentor junior staff and foster an interdisciplinary, mission-focused environment.
• Ensure compliance with human-subjects and data-management requirements.
