Job summary

River Oaks Hospital in the New Orleans area seeks a dynamic Director of Plant Operations to lead maintenance, housekeeping, safety, and grounds. You will manage the facility and its grounds, ensuring systematic operations and compliance with hospital policies and accreditation rules.

The role requires strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical maintenance, plus supervisory experience and familiarity with Fire/Life Safety codes. A Louisiana driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associates degree preferred.
• Five years in facilities management or related field.
• Experience in JC readiness and surveys in a psychiatric setting preferred.
• HVAC, electrical, plumbing and mechanical maintenance knowledge.
• Knowledge of fire and life safety codes and related regulations.
• 1–2 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong communication and staff/project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Directs safety, grounds and building maintenance; housekeeping; security; and transportation.
• Ensure compliance with codes, OSHA and contractual work specs; oversee emergency initiatives.
• Oversee construction projects and work by vendors; ensure fire and safety codes compliance.
• Maintain documentation for regulatory agencies (JC, City of New Orleans, Fire Marshall).
• Ensure OSHA guidelines and hospital safety policies are followed.
