What You’ll Do
As a Director, Hospital Development, you will directly contribute to LifeLink’s life‑saving mission.

The primary responsibility of this position is to work within established LifeLink Foundation, Inc., policies, procedures and protocols providing oversight and direction to hospital development operational activities throughout the Foundation, in conjunction with appropriate LifeLink Executive Directors and Hospital Development Managers and Supervisors. With a hands‑on management style, participate in and supervise Liaison initiatives as they positively impact donation through professional education with the goal of increased referrals, Foundation‑wide. This position will take direction from the OPO Senior Leadership, with an ongoing open line of communication with other OPO and Foundation Executive‑level management staff serving as a Foundation‑wide resource and consultant regarding hospital development initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creates and facilitates implementation of foundation, division and department goals, objectives and projects. Monitors and analyzes overall effectiveness.
  • Routinely reviews overall individual and hospital performance, goals and objectives to advance donation and meet regulatory agency requirements within direct reports' defined areas of responsibility.
  • Establishes and monitors the professional standards required in the field for HD staff.
  • Oversees the progress of the individual’s departmental responsibilities.
  • Directs and evaluates the progress of the training program for new liaisons and participates in the ongoing assessment, encouraging and providing resources for growth, progress and skill development both in the field and office settings.
  • Manages training of hospital development processes with other departmental staff.
  • Maintains routine communication with the Executive leadership through regular updates.
  • Reviews documentation, reports, and data on a regular basis, tracking the overall development efforts and reporting the results to the Executive leadership.
  • Provides oversight of departmental interviewing, hiring, training, preceptoring, coaching, mentoring, disciplining and counseling.
  • Conducts and provides feedback during annual evaluations and performance appraisals based on annual goals.
  • Oversees and participates in development of educational offerings, national initiatives, and other special projects, monitoring progress and evaluating outcomes.
  • Responsible for establishing and monitoring fiscal year budget and reporting to the Executive leadership as applicable.
  • Represent LifeLink at statewide and national forums.
  • Ensure departmental and direct report's compliance with regulatory agency requirements.
  • Actively participate in Advisory Board activities as determined by ED/AED.
  • Responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day processes within their respective departments associated with quality assessment performance improvement (QAPI) activities for the OPO as outlined in the OPO Quality Assessment Performance Improvement Plan.

  • Minimum of three years’ previous experience in the position of Hospital Development Manager or equivalent experience with demonstrated proficiencies in the areas of program management, staff coaching, physician education, customer service, problem resolution, leadership and successful development of assigned areas of responsibility; or
  • A 4‑year college degree with a focus of marketing, social work, or a comparable field of study with at least four years management level experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • Ability to maximize utilization of external and internal resources in overall program development.
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully apply sound judgement and effective supervisory/management skills and relationship building techniques.
  • Demonstrated above average public speaking and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to interact with various types of audiences.
  • Ability to maintain an open line of communication with Executive Leadership.
  • Ability to maintain a positive work environment and demonstrate problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated physical ability to lift, carry and/or move equipment and supplies of varying weight from 1 to 30 pounds.
  • Ability to travel by air, both locally and nationally.
  • Reliable vehicle with good driving record and current State/ license.
  • Puerto Rico Only: Must be fully bilingual – written and verbal English/Spanish.

Working Conditions

Pleasant, team‑oriented, interactive work environment. Availability via cell phone for local and interdivisional consultations as needed. Extended hours will be involved in implementing hospital development objectives, including evenings, nights and weekends. Local, Statewide and out‑of‑State travel on a regular basis. Hazardous conditions include, but are not limited to, the possible exposure to microorganisms, viruses, potentially infectious body fluids and hazardous chemicals.
