Job description

hMetrix is a healthcare data analytics company that processes large volumes of claims data from insurers and state governments to support some of the most consequential healthcare payment innovation in the country — including Maryland's Care Redesign Program as part of the CMS AHEAD Model.

We are hiring a Director to own our relationship with our Maryland state client and lead the translation of policy questions into rigorous, claims-based answers. You will be the primary point of contact for state stakeholders: understanding the policy, fielding policy and technical questions, shaping the analytic approach with our internal team of analysts and engineers, and ensuring every question and concern is tracked and systematically resolved. You will not write the code — we have deep technical resources for that — but you must speak the language of Medicare claims fluently enough to direct analytic work credibly and stand behind the results in front of the client.

This is a delivery-focused role. Your mandate is simple to describe and demanding to execute: make our state client's program succeed and retain hMetrix’s indispensable nature.

What You'll Do
  • Lead our Maryland state engagement in partnership with the primary client-facing contacts, managing regular virtual interactions and occasional travel to Maryland. While internal-facing tasks outside this initiative are not part of your primary responsibilities, active participation in them is welcome.
  • Translate policy and program questions — total cost of care, care redesign, outcome measurement, AHEAD implementation — into clear analytic specifications for internal analysts
  • Review and quality-check analytic outputs before they reach the client; ensure findings are accurate, policy-relevant, and clearly communicated
  • Maintain a disciplined record of client requests, and concerns, and drive each to documented resolution
  • Author and present reports, briefs, and deliverables suitable for state officials and program stakeholders
  • Lead through influence: coordinate analysts, engineers, and subject-matter experts who do not report to you, and keep multi-workstream deliverables on schedule
What You Bring

Required:

  • 8+ years working with Medicare and/or Medicaid claims data in a policy, program evaluation, or value-based payment context — you understand how claims are used to shape policy and measure outcomes
  • Experience owning a government or payer client relationship: leading client meetings, managing and tracking deliverables, and serving as the accountable point of contact
  • Demonstrated ability to direct analytic work performed by others — writing specifications, reviewing results, and translating between policy stakeholders and technical teams
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including reports and presentations authored for government audiences (a writing sample will be requested)
  • A track record of organized, reliable follow-through on complex, multi-stakeholder engagements
Preferred:
  • Experience with CMS Innovation Center models (AHEAD, ACO REACH, BPCI, or similar) or state all-payer / total cost of care programs
  • Familiarity with Maryland's healthcare landscape (HSCRC, TCOC Model, Care Redesign Program)
  • Advanced degree (MPH, MPP, MHA, or related); equivalent experience welcomed
  • Background at a federal research/policy contractor, state health agency, CMS, or payer/health-system analytics organization
Why hMetrix?
  • 100% Employer-Paid medical, dental, and vision premiums for you AND your dependents.
  • Hybrid/Flexible Schedule: Transition to hybrid with flexible intra-day breaks.
  • Financial Wellness: Competitive salary, annual bonuses, and a generous 401(k) match.
  • Growth: Mentorship and room for clear career advancement.
Location

Our office is in Bala Cynwyd, PA, and we prefer candidates who can work onsite four days a week. On a case-by-case basis, we will consider a remote arrangement with one day per week in the office. Periodic travel to Maryland for client meetings is expected but not frequent.

hMetrix is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.
