Qualifications

• Three (3) years of supervisory experience in health information management are required.
• Thorough knowledge of medical records, release of information, ICD 10 coding, and DRG assignments.
• Certification as RHIA or RHIT per AHIMA standards.

Responsibilities

• Direct the Health Information Management Service Department within regulatory standards.
• Consult with management to ensure patient records comply with licensing requirements.
• Maintain confidentiality of medical records and control release to authorized parties.
• Inform staff about confidentiality policies and regulatory changes.
• Direct department staff and manage staffing to meet facility needs.
• Monitor accuracy of medical records and ensure compliance with state and TJC standards.
• Act as liaison with other hospital Health Information Management departments.
• Coordinate preparation and revisions to medical records and forms for compliance.
• Lead committees and prepare statistical reports for administration.
• Stay updated on Health Information Management laws and professional development.
