Job summary

NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene seeks a Director of Research and Evaluation for the Bureau of Queens Neighborhood Health, primarily based in Jamaica, Queens, with initial days in Long Island City. The role leads the research agenda, oversees data-driven program evaluation, and advances health equity through data-informed policy and practice.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in public health or related field; doctoral degree preferred for senior levels.
• Experience supervising researchers and evaluating health equity initiatives.
• Strong data analysis and writing skills for grants and reports.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Bureau of Queens Neighborhood Health research and evaluation agenda and strategy.
• Lead goals, strategic planning, and implementation aligned with agency priorities.
• Spearhead all bureau research and evaluation activities, including data lead in emergencies.
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual progress and outcomes reports.
• Ensure research projects have a health equity focus and robust data quality.
• Design neighborhood-level research, plan program evaluation, and draft grant proposals.
• Provide oversight and assistance in research design, instruments, and protocols.
• Produce analytic reports and policy recommendations informed by findings.
• Supervise at least 1 full-time research and evaluation staff.
