Job description

Director, Guided Pathways Regional Coordination Team

Join to apply for the Director, Guided Pathways Regional Coordination Team role at Foundation for California Community Colleges.

Location: 100% Remote within California (Must reside in California). Candidates within Sacramento Region are preferred.

We are seeking a Director to join the Foundation in its mission of benefitting, supporting, and enhancing the California Community Colleges—the largest and most diverse system of higher education in the nation. The Foundation aims to double its impact in the next 10 years, working collaboratively with public and private partners to improve the student experience and expand pathways to economic and social mobility across California.

What You’ll Do

The Guided Pathways Implementation Team consists of 15 regional coordinators working directly with college personnel to implement systemwide reforms supporting Vision 2030. The team includes 3 associate directors managing college-specific teams. Your role involves ensuring that personnel working to improve student outcomes, increase completion rates, and close equity gaps receive necessary support and resources, while aligning efforts across initiatives. This position involves regular collaboration with Chancellor’s Office Executive staff and managing contractual obligations. You will also work with other directors to align team efforts and report on progress and performance indicators.

  • Work closely with Chancellor’s Office Executive staff to define and refine work plans.
  • Represent the Foundation and Success Center in meetings regarding system needs related to Vision 2030.
  • Collaborate with Success Center program directors to align and integrate programs for system impact.
  • Execute annual work plans to meet contractual deliverables within budget.
  • Report on team achievements to Success Center, Foundation, and Chancellor’s Office.
  • Manage staff in accordance with Foundation and Success Center policies, including performance reviews, compensation, KPI reporting, and resource planning.
  • Manage team progress at colleges using agile principles to ensure transparency, responsiveness, and alignment with system needs.
Attributes for Success
  • Experience implementing statewide or national higher education programs.
  • Knowledge of community college reform efforts; Guided Pathways knowledge preferred.
  • Understanding of California community college system goals and student success interventions.
  • Qualitative research and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesize evidence.
  • Knowledge of quantitative methods and statistical analysis.
  • Proven leadership in managing higher education teams.
  • Passion for equity, mission-driven work, and positive impact on people's lives.
  • Innovative, creative, collaborative, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Experience with nonprofit, entrepreneurial, and state agency environments.
  • Expertise in relevant niche areas such as business, philanthropy, technology, or communications.

Salary Range: $135,000 – $145,000 annually. Final salary based on experience and internal equity.
