Job summary

Forvis Mazars, LLP is seeking a senior leader to direct grants management services, shaping strategy and growth across federal, state, local, tribal, healthcare, education, and nonprofit markets. You will oversee complex engagements, ensure regulatory compliance, and drive client value from proposal through closeout.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related field.
  • 10–15 years of experience in grants management, grants administration, compliance, public sector consulting, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing complex federal and state grant programs.
  • Strong understanding of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), federal grant compliance requirements, and grant lifecycle management.
  • Proven business development and client relationship management experience.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex engagements.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
  • CPA, CGMS, PMP, CFE, MBA, MPA, or other relevant credential preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the National Practice Leader to implement the strategic vision and growth plan for the Grants Management Services practice.
  • Support practice management activities, including budgeting, resource planning, utilization management, and operational performance monitoring.
  • Assist in developing and expanding service offerings across the grants lifecycle, including grant readiness, grant writing, post-award administration, compliance, subrecipient monitoring, program evaluation, and closeout.
  • Monitor industry trends, regulatory developments, and emerging funding opportunities to identify growth opportunities and client needs.
  • Serve as acting leader for designated initiatives and assume leadership responsibilities when delegated by the Practice Leader.
  • Contribute to annual strategic planning and practice performance reviews.
  • Collaborate with other Forvis Mazars service lines to develop integrated client solutions.
  • Lead business development efforts to achieve practice growth objectives.
  • Develop and maintain executive-level client and prospect relationships.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities within federal, state, local, tribal, healthcare, education, and nonprofit markets.
  • Lead proposal development, interview teams, opportunity strategy sessions, and capture planning activities.
  • Represent the firm at conferences, industry associations, webinars, and client events.
  • Collaborate with marketing teams on thought leadership, publications, and market visibility initiatives.
  • Serve as Engagement Director or Engagement Executive for complex grants management engagements.
  • Provide strategic oversight for grant-funded programs throughout the grants lifecycle.
  • Advise clients on federal regulations, Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), grant compliance, internal controls, governance, and risk management.
  • Oversee engagement planning, staffing, budgets, quality control, and deliverable review.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with firm quality standards.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, boards, elected officials, and administrative leadership.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in grants management, compliance, and federal funding requirements.
  • Guide clients regarding Uniform Guidance compliance, Internal controls, Procurement requirements, Subrecipient monitoring, Time and effort documentation, Financial management, Performance reporting, Single Audit readiness and Program evaluation and monitoring.
  • Review methodologies, tools, templates, and deliverables to ensure technical excellence and consistency.
  • Support development of practice intellectual capital and standardized service delivery methodologies.
  • Recruit, develop, mentor, and retain high-performing professionals within the practice.
  • Serve as a career coach and mentor for managers, senior consultants, and consultants.
  • Support succession planning and leadership development initiatives.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, innovation, and exceptional client service.
  • Lead internal training initiatives related to grants management, compliance, and consulting skills.

What You Will Do:

Practice Leadership & Strategy

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum 10-15 years of experience in grants management, grants administration, compliance, public sector consulting, or related field.
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing complex federal and state grant programs.
  • Strong understanding of Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), federal grant compliance requirements, and grant lifecycle management.
  • Proven business development and client relationship management experience.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and complex engagements.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and executive communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • CPA, CGMS, PMP, CFE, MBA, MPA, or other relevant professional credential.
  • Experience supporting governmental, healthcare, higher education, nonprofit, or tribal organizations.
  • Experience managing practice financial performance, forecasting, and resource planning.
  • Established industry reputation through speaking engagements, publications, or leadership roles.
