Job summary

Midea America Corp is establishing its Government Relations function in Washington, D.C. We seek a seasoned Government Relations Director/Senior Manager to represent Midea before U.S. federal bodies and key industry associations.

The role blends legal acumen with strategic legislative and executive affairs, navigating CPSC, BIS, CIFIUS, and trade policy to shape U.S. policy and protect Midea's North American interests. Exceptional bipartisan engagement is required.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor from a top-tier U.S. law school and active state bar membership.
• 10+ years of federal legislative affairs or public policy experience in DC.
• Capitol Hill experience as Counsel or Legislative Assistant.
• Strong knowledge of CPSC, BIS and CIFIUS regulatory regimes.
• Excellent written, verbal negotiation and bipartisan relationship skills.
• Mandarin proficiency is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead policy engagement and legislative strategy in Washington, DC, building bipartisan relationships.
• Monitor and analyze regulations from CPSC affecting home appliances and related products.
• Advise on export controls and BIS trade/exports compliance.
• Advise leadership on cross-border investment reviews under CIFIUS.
• Map policy pathways to safeguard and advance strategic objectives in North America.
• Represent Midea in trade associations and coalitions; engage with policymakers.
• Provide risk assessment and policy counsel on emerging trends and geopolitics.
