Company Description

Deerpath Capital is a leading direct lending firm specializing in providing first lien senior debt financing to middle market companies. Deerpath is focused on providing debt capital for acquisitions, refinancings, ownership transitions, and growth capital to companies in the U.S. lower middle market. The firm employs approximately 100 employees globally, with investment offices in New York, Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Fort Lauderdale, as well as overseas investor relations offices in London, Seoul, Tokyo, and Brisbane.

Position Overview

This role is responsible for global distribution, with an initial focus on the private wealth channel. The successful candidate will build and lead a team to effectively penetrate this market segment, mainly in the U.S., and will have a strong track record in client management and capital raising within private markets. Reporting to the Head of Investor Relations in New York, the key responsibilities include:

  1. Investor Prospecting:
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community, regional, and global banks, RIAs, fintech platforms, OCIOs, endowments, foundations, and family offices.
  • Understand different segments of the private wealth channel and their investment needs.
  • Leverage existing relationships and generate new investor pipelines.
  • Coordinate meetings and follow-ups with prospective investors.
  • Manage and track investor follow-up activities.
  • Marketing and Communication:
    • Deeply understand and effectively communicate the firm’s history, culture, investment strategy, products, and track record.
    • Analyze the marketplace and competitive landscape to position the firm effectively.
    • Lead presentations to prospective investors, independently or with senior team members.
  • Relationship Management:
    • Manage investor inquiries, due diligence requests, RFPs, and follow-ups, collaborating with the investor relations team.
    • Maintain and update investor information in CRM systems.
    • Coordinate with global placement agents.
  • Performance and Personal Competencies:
    • Establish and maintain strong institutional investor relationships with a solid reputation in LP and consultant communities.
    • Possess a strong track record in advising institutional investors and raising capital.
    • Have knowledge of credit markets and strategies, with the ability to quickly learn the firm’s investment approach.
    • Exhibit excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills.
    • Demonstrate entrepreneurial mindset, creativity, self-motivation, and ability to work independently.
    • Possess strong academic credentials, work ethic, and passion for excellence.
    • Be a team player with a positive attitude, capable of working independently and collaboratively.
  • Desired Skills & Experience:
    • Undergraduate degree from a respected institution.
    • At least 6+ years in financial services or consulting, with 4+ years in institutional investor relationship development and capital raising, preferably in private credit or equity.
