Job summary

Riot Platforms Inc is seeking a Director of Security to lead Riot's security strategy across offices and data centers. The role emphasizes physical security system design, protective operations, and security at scale, collaborating with Operations, Facilities, Engineering, IT/OT, Construction, HR, and Cybersecurity to safeguard people and assets.

The position is hybrid based in Austin, Texas, reporting to the VP of Security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent education/experience considered.
• 15+ years of progressive security operations leadership at a global scale.
• 10+ years in large-scale, mission-critical center environments.
• Experience managing third-party vendors and global product/site launches.
• Knowledge of physical security, risk management, and incident response.
• Strong understanding of cloud services, networking, and critical infrastructure.
• Ability to build, scale, and lead global teams and influence senior stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel regularly to Riot data center locations.

Responsibilities

• Lead the global physical security strategy, standards, and roadmap for Riot's data center portfolio.
• Design, engineer, and implement advanced physical security systems for data centers.
• Partner with Operations, Facilities, and Engineering to protect personnel and infrastructure.
• Conduct security risk assessments and ensure compliance with ASIS, SOC 2, ISO 27001, NFPA codes.
• Direct incident response for physical security breaches and emergencies with internal and external partners.
• Build and oversee a Global Security Operations Center (GSOC) with 24/7 monitoring.
• Lead protective programs including executive protection and travel-risk management.
• Manage security vendors, integrators, and budgets for security investments.
