Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage team of Senior Logistics Coordinators and Logistics Coordinators to ensure outsourced transportation is efficiently routed and consolidated when possible. Ensure the correct vendor selection so that the appropriate levels of service and cost are applied to each shipment: from QCC locations, local offices, project sites (returns), to/from ports or airports, etc.
  • Author SOPs and policy statements/updates pertaining to Logistics and Transportation.
  • Be accountable for budget and timelines for implementation for Logistics and Transportation programs and assets.
  • Lead the company’s Fleet Asset programs including management of Corporate Admin Fleet personnel.
  • Own the relationships with the company’s Logistics and Transportation vendors.
  • Diversify the company’s carrier portfolio including national TL and LTL carriers, brokers, white glove final mile agents, freight forwarders, third party logistics (3PL’s), drayage providers, air freight carriers and independent contractors:
    • Analyze and interpret shipping data from multiple carriers.
    • Perform national bid process or lane negotiations with brokers and asset-based carriers for long haul shipments.
    • Onboard Agents to implement outsourced final mile optimization from local offices as appropriate.
    • Qualify, onboard and manage third party warehousing/storage vendors to properly house and insure freight for offices and customers with pre-negotiated rate and service structures.
    • Engage multiple forwarders to encourage competitive pricing for import/export shipments and advise offices both domestically and abroad on vendor selection, transportation mode, and customs related matters.
    • Implement standardized operating agreements and service level agreements (SLA’s) including ISO based Risk Assessment. Requalify existing vendors and deactivate from the network if needed while continuously adding new capacity with qualified vendors.
  • Track and maintain acceptable levels of DIFOT (Delivered In Full On Time) and internal customer service metrics.
  • Support the VP, Global Supply Chain with any process changes relating to Supply Chain.
  • Develop scorecards and conduct quarterly reviews with logistics vendors on agreed upon SLA’s.
  • Advise Warehouse Management in all levels of the organization on packaging and outbound shipping standards/protocols.
  • Work with Procurement to optimize inbound shipments from vendors and negotiate price breaks on equipment due to optimized shipments.
  • Provide Sales team with accurate estimates for projects involving complex supply chain challenges.
  • Work with local offices to establish best practices for implementation of countermeasures.
  • Track compliance with countermeasures and follow up to ensure compliance.
  • Recommend and document changes and follow up with appropriate areas to ensure required changes are implemented.
  • Create and provide reports as needed.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to pivot efficiently between strategic initiatives and tactical execution as business needs require.
  • Ability to both work independently and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to finalize and implement logistics and transportation related goals.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams across multiple functional areas in a matrixed environment.
  • Must have clear and professional communication skills (written and oral) both internally and externally.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Intermediate PC skills and working knowledge of Office Suite (Excel, Word).
  • Demonstrated customer service focus and client communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed to local offices, vendor facilities and customer sites.

Education and/or Experience

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 7-10 years of leadership experience in Logistics/Supply Chain including both asset based and outsourced transportation.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience managing a team with multiple layers of management.
  • Demonstrated working experience using data and analytics to formulate countermeasures.
  • Experience implementing countermeasures across multiple locations.
