Job summary

AMETEK, Inc. is seeking a Director of Cyber Engineering and Operations to lead global threat detection, incident response, and vulnerability management across the enterprise.

You will supervise follow-the-sun teams, manage the MDR/EDR relationship, and advance the SOC. The role collaborates with GRC, IAM, Platform Engineering, and Network teams to ensure secure-by-design platforms, regulatory readiness (ITAR, CMMC, NIST 800-171), and executive reporting.

Qualifications

• BS in CS/Info Systems or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years in cybersecurity, including 5+ years leading security operations.
• Experience managing a globally distributed security team.
• Hands-on with EDR/XDR platforms and MDR providers (CrowdStrike preferred).
• Familiarity with vulnerability scanning tools and remediation workflows.
• Experience managing external vendors and MSSPs against SLAs.
• Exposure to ITAR, CMMC, NIST 800-171 is a plus.
• Certifications: CISSP, GIAC, or CISM preferred.
• Strong communication and executive reporting experience.
• Experience building/maturing security operations and incident response functions.
• Familiarity with IAM/PAM and network security concepts.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the Security Operations & Incident Response strategy, roadmap, and staffing.
• Lead a follow-the-sun Incident Response team across regions.
• Own the MDR/EDR provider relationship and SLA performance.
• Mature the SOC to provide cross-estate detection and response.
• Act as incident commander for major security incidents and escalations.
• Direct security engineering and detection engineering work across the stack.
• Oversee vulnerability scanning, remediation partnerships, and policy alignment with GRC.
• Coordinate incident response playbooks and post-incident reviews.
• Collaborate with IAM, Platform Engineering, and Networking to secure architecture.
• Ensure secure-by-design platform transitions and MSSP handoffs.
