Walmart Global Communications is seeking a visionary creative leader with the experience, credibility and confidence to develop high-fidelity, breakthrough creative that fuels high-impact storytelling. As the Creative Director as part of the Creative and Content Experience team, you thrive at the intersection of big ideas, impeccable craft and strategic vision. You have a track record of leading teams to deliver exceptional creative work that is on-brand, on-brief and resonates across channels.

You should have art direction or visual design/communications background. Your portfolio showcases deep experience and ability to effortlessly move across creative disciplines; conceptual thinking, design and editorial direction and digital-first thinking are your core competencies, alongside an ability to lead and inspire your team.

As a key leader across an integrated creative team, you will guide the creative development across owned social, digital and emerging platforms. By partnering closely with other departmental leads, you’ll be the creative force ensuring we’re developing audience-first and platform-optimized assets that support the entire content experience. Creative fidelity, strategic relevance, and platform fluency are always front and center.
What you'll do...
  • Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary in-house creative team (art directors, designers, illustrators, photographers, animators, etc.) to deliver world-class communications assets across an enterprise portfolio.

  • Translate strategic vision and creative briefs into bold, brand-aligned outputs that reflect our visual identity and editorial voice—ensuring consistency, scalability, and creative excellence.

  • Concept and pitch breakthrough ideas with clarity and strategic rigor; confidently present creative thinking to senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.

  • Champion a people-first culture—mentoring talent, fostering collaboration, and building a high-performing creative team rooted in curiosity, trust, and shared standards of excellence.

  • Facilitate and lead brainstorms that unlock compelling creative treatments, storytelling formats, and platform-native content approaches.

  • Drive innovation at scale, applying emerging AI tools and workflows to increase velocity, precision, and quality across the creative lifecycle.

  • Model creative agility, seamlessly shifting between high-level direction and hands-on execution—whether designing, mocking, prototyping, or writing.

  • Elevate the craft with a sharp eye and high standards, ensuring every asset reflects intentional design, narrative clarity, and brand fidelity.

  • Push creative boundaries through exploration of GenAI, experimental formats, and emerging trends to keep content fresh, future-forward, and audience-relevant.

What you’ll bring:

  • Experience

    • 15+ years of creative leadership experience, including at least 3 years in a Creative Director role.

    • Proven leadership in in-house or agency environments managing integrated creative teams (designers, art directors, copywriters, motion designers, editors, etc.)

    • 5+ years of people leadership experience with a strong track record of team growth, mentorship, and talent development.

    • A portfolio that demonstrates exceptional creative work across brand identity, digital content, campaign concepts, and immersive storytelling experiences.

  • Skills and Competencies

  • Creative / Art Direction

    • Skilled in presenting and defending creative ideas with clarity and confidence to cross-functional stakeholders, including senior leaders.

    • Strong conceptual and design sensibility; able to review and elevate both visual and written work across multiple formats and channels.

    • Ability to guide the development of compelling visual narratives that align with business strategy and brand standards.

  • Team Leadership and Culture
    • Committed to building a culture of creative excellence, experimentation, and inclusion.

    • Collaborative leadership style with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

    • Proven ability to inspire, mentor, and develop high-performing creative teams.

  • Technical Expertise

  • Design Tools:
    • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects) and Figma; comfortable directing and/or executing high-quality work within these tools.

  • AI + Innovation Fluency:
    • Working knowledge of emerging GenAI tools (e.g., Adobe Firefly, ChatGPT, Midjourney, Google Imagen, etc.) and a strategic understanding of how to apply them to scale creative production and enhance ideation.

  • Digital and Content Production
    • Awareness of accessibility best practices, responsive design principles, and platform-specific requirements (e.g., social ratios, web optimization, localization).

    • Experience designing for a variety of formats: social media, responsive web, editorial storytelling, presentations, motion graphics and live event material.

    • Understanding of end-to-end content creation pipelines—including design systems, animation, video, and web/digital formats.

  • Creative Operations and Scalability
    • Ability to contribute to the development of creative playbooks, templates, and scalable systems to improve team efficiency and output consistency.

    • Familiarity with project management and collaboration tools (e.g., AirTable, Notion, Frame.io) and asset management workflows.
