Parse products are utilized in more than 3,000 laboratories worldwide and include Evercode™ Whole Transcriptome, Evercode™ TCR, Gene Capture, and associated software solutions. Founded based on technology developed at the University of Washington, Parse operates a 34,000-square-foot headquarters and laboratory facility in Seattle’s South Lake Union district.

THE POSITION

As the Director, GigaLab and Genomics Services at Parse Biosciences, you will lead and scale the GigaLab, our customer-facing genomics services laboratory in Seattle, WA. This role is responsible for the successful delivery of large-scale single-cell projects and datasets that support customers across academia, biotechnology, and pharmaceutical organizations. As the leader of a growing, revenue-generating function, you will own the operational execution of customer programs from onboarding through delivery, ensuring projects are prioritized appropriately and completed on time, at the highest quality standards, and in a manner that supports long-term customer satisfaction and business growth. The ideal candidate combines deep genomics expertise with exceptional operational leadership, strong project management mindset, and a commercial mindset. They will bring experience from a genomics core facility, sequencing laboratory, or similar services environment and thrive in a fast-paced setting that requires balancing scientific excellence, customer needs, operational efficiency, and business priorities. This individual will be energized by building scalable systems, leading high-performing teams, and continuously improving how our genomics services business operates and it grows. This position is based at our Seattle, WA headquarters. Regular on-site presence is required, and relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates from within the United States.

IN THIS POSITION, YOU WILL

Lead and scale Parse Biosciences’ GigaLab and Genomics Services, with accountability for operational performance, customer satisfaction, and the continued growth and success of Parse’s revenue-generating services business. Oversee laboratory operations, including project prioritization, scheduling, capacity planning, workflow optimization, risk mitigation, and cross-functional coordination to ensure multiple concurrent customer projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest quality standards. Partner cross-functionally with Commercial, Scientific Partnerships, Product, Bioinformatics, R&D, and Operations to ensure successful project execution, enhance the customer experience, and continuously improve the efficiency, scalability, and profitability of the genomics services business. Directly manage and lead a genomics laboratory team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. Provide technical oversight for genomics workflows, including NGS library preparation, single-cell sequencing, RNA sequencing, sequencing operations, and laboratory automation platforms. Troubleshoot technical and operational challenges, serving as an escalation point for complex projects and customer issues. Participate in customer onboarding, project planning, and operational alignment discussions to ensure a seamless customer experience. Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive operational excellence, quality, efficiency, and scalability. Oversee laboratory quality systems, SOPs, documentation, equipment management, vendor relationships, procurement activities, and operational readiness. Lead forecasting, resource allocation, and continuous improvement initiatives that support the growth, scalability, and long‑term success of Parse’s genomics services business.

FOR THIS POSITION, WE LOOK FOR
  • An advanced degree in Molecular Biology, Genomics, Biochemistry, or a related scientific field.
  • 7+ years of progressive experience in genomics laboratory operations, including leadership experience within a genomics core facility, sequencing laboratory, genomics services organization, or related environment.
  • Strong technical expertise in next‑generation sequencing (NGS) technologies and laboratory workflows, including single‑cell sequencing, RNA sequencing, library preparation, and sequencing operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross‑functional scientific programs involving multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and aggressive timelines.
  • Experience managing laboratory personnel and building high‑performing technical teams.
  • Demonstrated success improving operational processes, implementing scalable workflows, and driving continuous improvement in a scientific or laboratory environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills with the ability to effectively engage customers, scientific stakeholders, cross‑functional partners, and executive leadership.
  • Exceptional planning, organizational, and project management skills with the ability to coordinate multiple concurrent customer projects while maintaining operational excellence.
  • Experience operating within a customer‑facing, fee‑for‑service, or revenue‑generating scientific environment.
  • PMP certification or other formal project management training is a plus.
