Job summary

Johnson & Johnson seeks a Director of Data Science – GenAI – Neuroscience to lead AI/GenAI initiatives in Neuroscience R&D. You will drive the strategy and roadmap, build scalable AI solutions, and collaborate with scientists to translate priorities into reusable platform capabilities.

You will oversee responsible AI practices, evolve enterprise platforms, and partner with cross functional teams to deliver measurable scientific value. This role is based at a US site and may require travel.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with relevant experience in a quantitative field.
• 8+ years in pharmaceutical/biotech analytics with technical direction experience.
• Hands-on experience building agentic systems and deploying AI/LLMs, NLP, or generative AI.
• Strong ability to assess scientific evidence; neuroscience exp. a plus.
• Strong Python skills and solid software engineering practices.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary technical delivery across orgs.
• Excellent communication with technical, scientific, and senior stakeholders.
• Experience with genetics, multi-omics, imaging, ontologies, or scientific knowledge systems preferred.
• Exposure to regulated environments and AI governance is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set the Neuroscience AI strategy, portfolio, roadmap, and measures of value.
• Build and deploy scalable agentic AI and generative AI solutions for priority scientific needs.
• Own delivery, investment decisions, and outcomes for the Neuroscience AI portfolio.
• Ensure scientific rigor, appropriate evidence use, and reliable domain representation.
• Establish evaluation standards, expert validation, and responsible AI practices.
• Shape shared platform capabilities and develop reusable solutions aligned with enterprise architecture.
• Guide multidisciplinary teams and maintain strong engineering and lifecycle practices.
• Communicate progress and impact to senior stakeholders.
