Job summary

Veritiv, a leading packaging and distribution company, seeks a Director of Financial Planning and Analysis in Atlanta to lead a team responsible for comprehensive financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting. You will partner with executives to accelerate growth, improve performance, and turn data into business results.

The role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional leadership, and a deep understanding of financial planning processes. MBA preferred; CPA background is a plus.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of related job experience in FP&A or a similar leadership role.
  • Experience leading teams and collaborating with executives.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills, with a focus on data-driven decision making.
  • MBA preferred or equivalent business degree.

  • Provide strategic financial insights to senior management.

Atlanta | Lead corporate FP&A, driving forecasting, budgeting, and financial analysis. Partner with executives to accelerate growth, improve performance, optimize investments, champion analytics and process improvement, and turn data into business results

Job Purpose

Our Director of Financial Planning and Analysis will lead a team responsible for providing comprehensive financial analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support strategic decision-making. This role requires strong analytical skills, exceptional leadership abilities, and a keen understanding of financial planning processes.

Job Responsibilities
  • Oversee the development of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
  • Provide strategic financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Analyze financial performance against key business metrics and document pertinent financial highlights.
  • Support the strategic planning process by providing financial input and modeling.
  • Develop and maintain financial models to support decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and standards.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive business performance and efficiency.
  • Manage, develop, and improve key financial processes, including forecasting, budget planning, performance reporting, long-range planning, cash flow, and balance sheet forecasting.
  • Lead the corporate planning function, partnering with leadership team, channel/department heads and FP&A business teams to develop short-term forecasts, long-term strategic plans, annual budgets and financial reporting.
  • Be an analytical thinker with the ability to identify strategic topics, synthesize complex ideas into clear frameworks, and use analysis to drive strategic priorities.
  • Advise business leadership of opportunities and risks impacting business performance.
  • Synchronize operating and financial strategy.
Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications
  • Develop and implement financial strategies to support the company’s growth objectives and long-term goals.
  • Provide comprehensive financial analysis, including variance analysis, profitability analysis, and scenario planning to inform business decisions.
  • Collaborate with department heads and senior management to support strategic initiatives and provide financial insights.
  • Assess financial risks and opportunities, providing recommendations to mitigate risks and capitalize on opportunities.
  • Continuously improve financial planning processes and systems.
  • Drive the financial aspects of strategic projects, including mergers, acquisitions, and investments.
  • Design and implement advanced financial models and analytical tools.
  • Ensure adherence to financial policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Partner with business units to identify opportunities for cost optimization and revenue enhancement.
  • Champion the use of technology and data analytics to improve financial planning processes.
  • MBA preferred.
Work Experience
  • 5-10 years of related job experience.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and adapt to sudden changes in the work environment.
  • Ability to work quickly and efficiently.
  • Basic experience of simple office/operational systems.
  • Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.
  • Experienced in providing leadership to others regarding work related systems, processes, and challenges.
  • Experienced in strategic management and leadership across company functions directing substantial resources over long time frames.
  • Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.
  • Experience of planning, managing and organizing resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).
  • Strong planning and organization skills are required.
