Director, Florida Federal Affairs (Finance)
Nemours is seeking a Director, Florida Federal Affairs.
The Director, Florida Federal Affairs, is a highly visible position focused on lobbying to support financial sustainability for the Nemours Florida operation. The position resides within the Nemours National Office of Policy and Prevention's Federal Affairs team, reports to the AVP, Federal Affairs, and works in close collaboration with the Florida-based External Affairs team. The Director will provide leadership to the Federal Affairs team's Florida strategy and work closely with executive and operational teams to advance policy and appropriations priorities. The Director must have deep ties to Florida's federal legislators and staff. The position will entail frequent travel between Nemours North and Central Florida divisions and Washington, DC, including having a strong Capitol Hill lobbying presence.
The position is part of a very collaborative, fast-paced team and must be comfortable working closely and cooperatively with team members to achieve common goals and advance new projects, often on an urgent basis. Specific responsibilities include: leading Capitol Hill lobby days, Florida-based congressional site visits, and other advocacy-related events; analyzing and providing recommendations for Nemours leadership on legislative proposals; developing advocacy collateral; and supporting the National Office's regulatory portfolio. The Director will develop strategic alliances with Federal Affairs leads for community and regional stakeholders. Content areas will include but not be limited to Medicaid, State Directed Payment Programs, provider taxes, 340B and other issues related to children's hospital financing and the Federal Affairs agenda. The position requires a strong leadership presence, excellent interpersonal skills, flexibility and the ability to meet tight deadlines, multi-task, think strategically, synthesize information into persuasive policy arguments, and work with multiple internal and external partners.
Master's degree in public policy, political science, health care administration, public administration, child health, or related field required.
10 plus years of relevant professional experience required, including directly interacting with senior executives, Florida legislators, and lobbyists.
