The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's degree, 7+ years in accounting with supervisory experience, and CPA status; a Master's is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in related field.
• 7 years progressively responsible, related experience including at least three years in supervisory capacity.
• Master's degree preferred.
• CPA (Certified Public Accountant) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage Financial Reporting and Accounting Operations divisions, including development of work plans and annual performance evaluations for professional and clerical accounting staff.
• Establish priorities of tasks and responsibilities to ensure accurate and timely completion.
• Prepare annual financial reports in accordance with UT System and State Comptroller guidelines and GAAP; compile monthly, quarterly and annual internal and external reports.
• Monitor and report Unrelated Business Income Tax (UBIT) liability.
• Design and maintain internal controls to ensure efficient operations and reliable financial information.
• Coordinate audits by independent firms and implement policy changes based on findings.
• Oversee accounting activity of 501(c)3 corporations affiliated with UT Southwestern.
• Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations and monitor state expenditures.
• Oversee voucher postings and accounting system closings.
• Monitor various accounting reports for accuracy and completeness.
• Interpret current reporting requirements from agencies (State Comptroller, UT System, FASB, GASB).
• Recommend automation improvements for reporting processes.
