Job Description

The Director of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) is a key member of the Finance organization responsible for overseeing all aspects of financial planning, forecasting, and strategic analysis within manufacturing operations. This role partners with senior leadership to drive operational performance, cost optimization, and long-term value creation. The Director of FP&A works closely with business unit Controllers; it is a remote position requiring travel to business units.

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate has strong business acumen, extensive manufacturing finance experience, and a proven track record in leading impactful financial processes. They should be hands-on, capable of designing, communicating, and managing financial analyses at both parent and subsidiary levels, and able to support strategic business objectives. Reporting to the CFO, they will interface with leadership across various functions including manufacturing, IT, and business development.

Responsibilities:

As part of the Finance leadership team, this role manages all financial planning and analysis activities, working with the VP, Controller, and operational teams to ensure effective financial controls and planning. Key duties include:

  1. Strategic Planning & Forecasting
  2. Lead annual budgeting, monthly forecasting, and long-range planning for manufacturing.
  3. Develop dynamic financial models for scenario planning and decision-making.
  4. Align financial plans with operational metrics.
  1. Business Partnership
  2. Act as a strategic finance partner to operations and supply chain leadership.
  3. Translate complex financial data into actionable insights for decision-making.
  4. Collaborate on cost management, capital investments, and resource planning.
  1. Reporting & Analysis
  2. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities through performance analysis.
  3. Monitor manufacturing metrics such as COGS, inventory turns, and margins.
  1. Team & Process Leadership
  2. Lead and develop a team of analysts across manufacturing sites.
  3. Improve FP&A processes, tools, and reporting systems.
  4. Ensure compliance with controls, policies, and standards.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in FP&A or finance, with at least 3 years in manufacturing, preferably multi-site.
  • Experience developing complex financial models for budgeting, ROI analysis, and general financial modeling.
  • Proficiency in financial software, high-level Excel skills, Power BI experience a plus.
  • Experience in a PE-backed company preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, proactive problem-solver.
  • Ability to work independently, influence without authority, and lead through ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.

Education/Certifications:

BA/BS in Accounting or Finance; advanced degree preferred; CPA a plus.
