Job summary

Navy Federal Credit Union is seeking a Senior Financial Planning leader in Vienna, VA to execute budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis for an enterprise domain.

The role partners with senior leaders to deliver insights, develop scenarios, and support informed decision-making while driving governance and cross-functional alignment across finance and business teams. Location is Vienna, VA with standard hours.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or related field
• 12-15 years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, or related financial disciplines
• Experience leading managers and professional staff in a complex organization
• Experience supporting executive decision-making with financial analysis, forecasting, and business cases
• Ability to influence and partner with senior leaders on financial matters
• Knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, governance and performance management

Translate strategic priorities into actionable plans, performance expectations, and operating rhythms that drive business outcomes. Partner with leaders across Finance and the business to deliver insights, evaluate opportunities and risks, and support informed decision-making. Develop organizational capability, foster cross-functional alignment, and ensure planning processes support the achievement of strategic and financial objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and financial performance analysis activities for an assigned business area or defined enterprise planning domain
• Translate strategic priorities into planning activities, operating rhythms, performance expectations, and measurable financial outcomes
• Drive cross-functional execution and alignment across business, finance, and enterprise stakeholders to support achievement of organizational objectives
• Oversee development of financial plans, forecasts, scenarios, business cases, and executive-level reporting and analysis
• Evaluate financial performance, trends, risks, opportunities, and key business drivers, providing recommendations to improve results
• Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and executives, translating financial insights into actionable recommendations that inform business decisions
• Partner with business leaders to evaluate investment priorities, resource allocation decisions, and financial trade-offs in support of strategic objectives
• Establish and implement governance, planning standards, and financial performance practices within the assigned domain, ensuring alignment with enterprise financial policies and requirements
• Lead initiatives focused on financial planning, reporting, analytics, process improvement, and organizational capability enhancement
• Remove obstacles, resolve complex issues, and drive continuous improvement in planning methodologies, reporting processes, tools, and capabilities
• Lead and develop managers and team leaders; build organizational capability, succession readiness, and leadership bench strength
• Perform supervisory/managerial responsibilities
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field or the equivalent combination of experience, education, and training
• 12-15 years of progressively responsible experience in financial planning and analysis, business unit finance, corporate finance, budgeting, forecasting, accounting, or related financial disciplines
• Significant experience leading managers, team leaders, and/or professional staff within a complex organization
• Demonstrated experience supporting executive decision-making through financial analysis, forecasting, scenario modeling, business cases, and performance management
• Proven ability to influence, advise, and partner with senior leaders and executives on complex business and financial matters
• Deep knowledge of financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, performance management, financial modeling, profitability analysis, and financial governance practices
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, strategic thinking, and decision-making capabilities
• Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to convey complex financial concepts to executive and non‑financial audiences
• Experience leading cross‑functional initiatives, process improvements, or organizational transformation efforts

Desired Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Business Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• Experience supporting large‑scale financial planning, enterprise forecasting, or business unit finance functions
