Job summary

Dollar Tree, Inc. is seeking a Director of Finance Strategy at our Chesapeake, VA office. This role partners with executive leadership across Finance, Operations, Merchandising, and other functions to shape growth, transformation, and long‑term value creation.

You will lead strategic planning, assess financial and operational impacts, drive enterprise priorities, and oversee a high‑performing strategy and finance team, including experimentation with cutting‑edge tools and data‑driven insights.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
• MBA, master's degree, or professional designation (CPA, CFA, etc.) required.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in Finance, Corporate Strategy, Management Consulting, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated ability to partner with senior business leaders to develop, evaluate, and execute strategic business initiatives.
• Strong analytical, financial modeling, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex data into actionable business recommendations.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, drive accountability, manage competing priorities, and effectively communicate progress to senior leadership.
• Strong business acumen, executive presence, and influencing skills, with the confidence to constructively challenge the status quo and help shape strategic direction.

Responsibilities

• Partner with executive leadership to evaluate strategic opportunities, advance corporate priorities, and develop compelling business cases and recommendations for C‑suite decision‑making.
• Lead strategic planning processes across multiple business functions, developing fact‑based recommendations to drive growth, improve profitability, optimize operations, and inform capital allocation decisions.
• Assess the financial, operational, and organizational impacts of strategic initiatives to support informed business decisions and successful execution.
• Lead experimentation and innovation initiatives in partnership with Dollar Tree's Test and Learn software provider, ensuring strategic decisions are supported by rigorous testing, measurable outcomes, and actionable insights.
• Recruit, coach, and develop a high‑performing team of strategy and finance professionals, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

About Your Role:

As a Director, Finance Strategy at Dollar Tree’s corporate office, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the company's growth, transformation, and long‑term value creation strategies. Your Required Skills and Experience:

Preferred Requirements:

• Experience evaluating large‑scale growth, operational excellence, or enterprise transformation initiatives.
• Experience within retail, consumer goods, or large‑scale, multi‑location organizations.
• Familiarity with financial and operational reporting, including sales, margins, inventory, and store performance.
• Experience leveraging AI‑enabled development tools, such as Microsoft Copilot or OpenAI Codex, to accelerate business intelligence delivery and improve team productivity.
• Deep hands‑on expertise with Mastercard Applied Predictive Technologies (APT), including experimentation, test design, and performance analysis.

Compensation:

Salary $187,500 - $213,500 based on experience + 25% target bonus + equity + relocation assistance. Our success is a team effort — when we reach our goals, you’ll be eligible for a yearly bonus!
