Director, Finance (Strategic Initiatives)

This role and its responsibilities are specifically designed to increase value inside the organization. Unlike a typical Director of Finance role, you will not have to be burdened with the usual cycles of financial reporting and financial operations. You will join an existing Accounting and Finance Department who will handle the usual boring financial operations and reporting, allowing this role to focus on the most impactful areas of the business as defined by the current CFO.

Your Impact:

Primary Objective-Cost of Service and Gross Margin Control

  • Context: We spend millions of dollars every month on data centers and data hosting supply partners.
  • Objective Activity Description: Collaborate with the infrastructure supply team to validate payouts, negotiate contracts and identify ways to improve gross margin

Ideal Candidate:

  • Can dig deep into the numbers, identify issues
  • thinks strategically when participating in negotiations and deal structure designs with data center partners

Secondary Objective of the Role- Go-To-Market (GTM) Investment ROI management

  • Context: Our marketing and GTM team needs additional help to ensure positive ROI on marketing investments
  • Objective Activity Description: Collaborate with the Sales and Marketing team to ensure customer acquisition is economically attractive

Ideal Candidate:

  • Is very comfortable in the world of LTV and CAC ratios and can manage the investments to ensure positive ROI

Tertiary Objective of the Role- Keep Business on Path to Financials Goals

  • Context: the organization has financial goals set by the leadership team (not disclosed for confidentiality purposes)
  • Objective Activity Description: Coordinate with existing accounting and finance team and department heads to ensure cash flows of the business are managed in line with the financial goals of the business.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years of experience in finance and accounting
  • Successful technology startup experience
  • Strong financial modeling and FP&A Skills
  • Organizational leadership experience
  • Director level experience with high autonomy and decision-making authority.
  • Expertise in budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and financial operations.
  • Experience leading complex financial projects both independently and collaboratively.
  • Ability to drive ambiguous initiatives to completion with minimal supervision.
  • Successful completion of a background check

Preferred:

  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • CPA or CFA or CGMA license (or equivalent)
  • AI industry vertical and / or Data Center verticals experience preferred
  • Financial Operations Management Experience

  • The competitive base pay for this position ranges from ($200,000 - $250,000). This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Runpod and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location
