Job summary

TGen, the Translational Genomics Research Institute, part of City of Hope, seeks a seasoned F, P&A Director to lead finance strategy and AI-enabled modernization. The role reports to the CFO and shapes budgeting, forecasting, and financial modeling across the Institute and its ventures.

The successful candidate will drive multi-entity governance, capital planning, and performance management while partnering with leadership to advance translational research and commercialization efforts.

Qualifications

• Financial professional with at least 10 years of leadership experience in corporate or nonprofit finance.
• Experience leading budgeting and forecasting across multi-entity organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to build financial models for new ventures and operating entities.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and consolidated financial reporting within complex structures.
• Experience applying current AI tools to improve financial processes.

Responsibilities

• Direct financial planning and analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic financial modeling across the Institute and subsidiaries.
• Lead the financial strategy behind commercialization initiatives, spin-outs, and joint ventures.
• Oversee modernization of Finance and administrative operations with AI and automation.
• Collaborate with executive leadership, faculty, and staff to align finance with strategic priorities.

TGen, the Translational Genomics Research Institute, is part of City of Hope. We are currently looking for a talented F, P&A Director.

This role reports to the CFO and serves as TGen’s forward-looking finance leader, directing financial planning and analysis, budgeting and forecasting, and strategic financial modeling across the Institute, its subsidiaries, and commercial entities. It leads the financial strategy behind TGen’s commercialization agenda, including spin-out ventures, startups, joint ventures, and the TGen Clinical Lab, from opportunity evaluation and financial modeling through entity formation, capitalization, and ongoing performance management. This role leads the modernization of Finance and administrative operations through the adoption of current AI tools and automation. This position maintains an in-depth understanding of the organization’s capabilities, priorities, and needs, and builds strong working relationships with executive leadership, faculty, and staff.

The successful candidate will enjoy a creative, collaborative environment and possess the following qualifications.

• Financial professional with at least 10 years of leadership experience in corporate or managerial finance in either for-profit or nonprofit organizations, preferably research organizations, health care systems, or other complex life sciences entities.
• Experience leading budgeting and forecasting processes across complex, multi-entity organizations.
• Demonstrated experience building financial models for new ventures, spin-outs, or early-stage companies, including operating models, valuation, and capitalization and dilution analysis.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and the consolidation of financial information across nonprofit or for-profit entities.
• Working proficiency with current AI tools and a track record of applying technology to improve financial processes.
• Strong leadership skills, a solutions-oriented approach, a collaborative style, and a strong service orientation.
