Job summary

Akamai Technologies, Inc. is seeking a security evangelist to join the Field CTO Team, engaging with Defense and Intelligence stakeholders to promote secure, scalable applications using Akamai's distributed cloud and zero-trust security solutions.

Qualifications

• Over 12 years of relevant cybersecurity experience with CS/Engineering background.
• Experience working with DoD/IC stakeholders and government executives.
• Expert in edge-native security, Zero Trust architecture, and reducing attack surfaces.
• Ability to secure distributed workloads and address threats across diverse environments.
• Knowledge of AI Runtime Defense and live AI model security considerations.
• Experience evangelizing cybersecurity initiatives across public sector.
• Familiarity with DoD Cloud Security Requirements IL4/IL5/IL6, FedRAMP High, and ICD 705/CMMC.
• Willingness or ability to obtain required security clearance.

This position involves engaging with Defense and Intelligence security stakeholders, including DoD, IC, and COCOMs. Responsibilities include representing Security and Defense Edge solutions, collaborating with sales and growth teams, and relaying customer insights to product development.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

• Possess over 12 of relevant cybersecurity experience with a background in Computer Science, Engineering, related field, or equivalent.

• Enjoy working cross-functionally with field teams, customers, partners, and C-Suite/senior government stakeholders to drive product strategy

• Be an expert in edge-native security, Zero Trust architecture, and shrinking complex attack surfaces

• Secure distributed workloads by enforcing Zero Trust frameworks, protecting hybrid environments, and addressing emerging threats across diverse operational landscapes.

• Understand AI Runtime Defense: knowledge of the security challenges of live AI models and agentic workflows

• Have experience evangelizing and driving cybersecurity, edge defense, and technical initiatives across the broader public sector community

• Demonstrate knowledge of DoD Cloud Security Requirements Guide IL4/IL5/IL6, FedRAMP High, Intelligence Community Directive 705, and CMMC compliance frameworks.

• Have willingness or ability to obtain security clearance requirement.

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $167,600 - $301,800/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
