QTS Data Centers is seeking a Director, Federal Solutions Engineering to lead a team of Solutions Engineers in designing and architecting large-scale Data Center solutions that win business and meet federal requirements.

You will coach, develop, and coach talent, work with sales and operations to tailor best-fit hosting and cloud solutions, and deliver compelling demonstrations and proposals to customers at all levels.

Who You Are

As the Director, Federal Solutions Engineering, you are responsible for providing technical and thought leadership with the ability to lead, coach and develop a team of Solutions Engineers giving them the foundation and skills required to assist the sales team in achieving overall sales bookings and revenue targets. You will develop and lead a highly engaged team of Solutions Engineers to design and architect best in class large scale Data Center Solutions.

What You Will Do

• Coach, Mentor, and develop a team of Solutions Engineers with the required technical skill set needed to design and architect complex hosting and cloud solutions in response to customer and prospect needs.
• Present advanced technical concepts in a clear manner to customers through demonstrations, technical review, and design/proposal presentations. Must be able to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences.
• Collaborate with sales teams and peers to determine best product and services fit accomplished via conference calls, site visits, and email correspondence.
• Work with operational staff as it relates to initiatives that affect the Sales and Solutions Engineering Team(s).
• Interface with internal teams to build and refine process around design and cost capture to ensure a smooth handoff to the delivery teams and by working with new product initiatives to ensure completeness and relevance to customer requirements.
• Provide support by listening to the customer first, establishing strong relationships with both customers and sales teams, demonstrating technical credibility, and making the transformation to a QTS Data Center solutions as seamless as possible.

What You Will Need to Be Successful

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent professional experience.
• Ten or more years of experience in technology and solutions selling with proven management experience.
• To meet federal customer and security requirements associated with this role, candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to provide documentation verifying citizenship upon request.
• Excellent written and presentation communication skills with the capacity to articulate complex technical topics to varying customer audiences (administrators to executives).
• Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines while supporting multiple projects simultaneously.

It Would be Great to Have

• Four or more years of proven experience managing Sales/Solutions Engineering teams.
• Seven or more years of experience in the data center industry.

Please note that this information is provided for those hired in Virginia only, and this role is open to candidates outside of Virginia with compensation that aligns with your location. The successful candidate’s starting salary will be determined based on permissible, non-discriminatory factors such as skills, experience, and geographic location. The estimated pay range for this role, if based in Virginia, is: $170,839.50 - 261,259.15
