Position Summary:

The Director, Facilities Management directs the engineering, operations and reliability of the facilities and physical plant in support of the mission of City of Hope.Scope includes oversight of clinical, research and laboratory, and GMP manufacturing facilities located on the Duarte Campus slated for growth to over 2M square feet and over 80 buildings.

Develops, implements, and monitors preventative and corrective maintenance programs.Provides technical leadership and training regarding equipment operations, standards, and maintenance. Ensures preparedness for regulatory compliance including but not limited to The Joint Commission, City of Duarte, OSHPD, EPA, AQMD, etc.Coordinates with compliance leadership to ensure effective protocols and procedures are in place and organization is survey ready.In addition, serves as campus Fire Marshall and EOC participant.

Responsible for ongoing assessments of all facilities as it relates to planning and forecasting of capital expenditures to maintain the facilities in order to provide a safe, healthy, and comfortable environment for patients, visitors, physicians, faculty and staff .Responsible for the development of standards and specifications to insure integration to all major capital development in a coordinated and effective manner.Assists in the Master Planning of facilities to identify opportunity and influence broader capital decision making.

Responsible for implanting City of Hope's Energy Management Plan ("EMP") including the identification and implementation of efficiency and sustainability initiatives reducing utility consumption, creating resiliency on campus and setting the organization up for efficiencies in the future.

As a successful candidate, you will:

  • Develop an Infrastructure Master Plan and associated capital implementation plan prioritizing investments.
  • Monitor operation and condition of all structures, buildings, equipment, and systems.
  • Provide and monitor a system of regular building, equipment, and utility inspections to meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Develop and implement the multi-year Comprehensive Maintenance Plan.
  • Provide an efficient work order system for repairs of facilities and equipment that ensures that all maintenance and repairs are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Prepare specifications for physical plant projects; estimates costs of equipment, materials, labor, and supplies; prepares bid specifications for projects, equipment, and contracted services.
  • Attract, retain, and develop quality management teams within areas of responsibilities and provide leadership to further develop program visions and quality outcomes.
  • Develop and monitor department budget; order equipment and supplies and monitors inventory; make requests for capital outlay expenditures.

Qualifications

Your qualifications should include:

  • BS in Engineering, Architecture, or related field to Facilities Management
  • 10 years of managing asset life-cycle and maintenance in institution of comparable size and complexity
  • 5 years of experience in leadership
  • Proven ability to manage large programs and be efficient with decision making processes
  • Strong budgetary skills
  • Ability to work well with many internal stakeholders and vendors.
  • Experience leading large multidisciplinary teams.
  • Experience mentoring and developing a team and fostering an environment of continuous learning and development

Additional Information:

Job Status: Full time, exempt

Salary range $164,465 - $274,664

City of Hope employees pay is based on the following criteria:work experience, qualifications, and work location.
