As a member of the UnitedHealth Group Executive Communications team, you will support C-suite leaders in advancing the company's narrative to a broad range of audiences. You will prepare and support our leaders as they engage with stakeholders including employees, patients, customers, policymakers, investors, media, and NGOs.

This role requires a strategic thinker and seasoned writer with experience supporting global leaders in a matrixed organization. Ideal candidates are highly motivated, curious, resourceful, and eager to learn. They must uphold high standards for quality and possess exceptional writing skills. Comfort with ambiguity and business and financial acumen are essential. Experience in healthcare is preferred.

You will have the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within the U.S. and will tackle some challenging projects.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Develop messaging for internal and external executive engagements, including speeches, video scripts, social media posts, and other communications.
  2. Support live and virtual events such as employee meetings, site visits, roundtables, industry conferences, podcasts, media interviews, and video productions.
  3. Collaborate with External Affairs, People Team, Marketing, Legal, and other functions to determine appropriate speaking engagements.
  4. Create tailored communication content for specific audiences, adapting style and tone as needed.
  5. Lead by doing—write and edit in a fast-paced environment, guiding others when necessary.

We offer a performance-based environment that challenges you, provides clear success criteria, and opportunities for development.

Required Qualifications
  1. 10+ years in corporate communications, marketing, journalism, public relations, or speechwriting.
  2. 5+ years of speechwriting experience for senior government or C-suite executives at a Fortune 100 company.
  3. Experience working directly with C-suite executives.
  4. Excellent writing and editing skills, broad worldview, and executive presence.
  5. Ability to adapt voice and style for diverse audiences and channels.
  6. Strong understanding of complex business, legal, regulatory, and policy issues.
  7. Experience creating content for digital, print, video, social media, and verbal channels.
  8. Experience managing social media profiles for executives.
  9. Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
  10. Ability to work flexibly in ambiguous situations.
Preferred Qualifications
  1. Experience in executing initiatives within a corporate or consulting setting.
  2. Experience in a complex, global, matrixed organization.
  3. Knowledge of the healthcare industry and policy environment.
  4. Familiarity with the Associated Press Stylebook.
  5. Adherence to UnitedHealth Group’s Telecommuter Policy for remote employees.

The salary range is $124,500 to $239,400 annually, based on full-time employment and various factors. Benefits include comprehensive packages, incentive programs, stock purchase options, and 401k contributions.

The application will be posted for at least 2 business days or until a sufficient pool of candidates is reached. The posting may close early due to volume.
