Etherio is seeking a Director of Event Technology Solutions in Atlanta to lead a client-facing technology practice across meetings, incentives, conferences and associations. You will design and deliver complex registration sites, mobile apps, and integrations while guiding a growing team.
You will manage discovery, scoping, LOEs, and performance, partnering with clients and vendors to ensure scalable, compliant, and innovative experiences across programs.
This role leads the client technology solutions team serving Etherio clients across corporate meetings, incentives, signature conferences and managed associations.
Serve as the senior event technology consultant to potential, new and returning clients – translating program goals, attendee journeys, and reporting needs into a platform solution and a build plan.
Lead technology discovery for new business: participate in prospect meetings, RFP responses and solution presentations with a clear, defensible point of view on what to build and what it takes to support it.
Scope and estimate event technology work, including registration complexity, mobile app, integrations, onsite requirements and translate it into level of effort, hours and fee recommendations for account and sales teams.
Advise clients on data collection and privacy practices within registration design, including personal data captured, consent language, payment handling and downstream data sharing.
Deliver post-event technology reporting and recommend concrete improvements for the next program cycle.
Identify opportunities to expand technology services within existing accounts and bring them forward with a business case.
Personally build and configure complex registration sites, event websites, mobile applications and attendee engagement tools in Cvent and other platforms where client programs require them.
Design registration workflows that hold up in production: multi-audience and multi-track paths, session and housing logic, group, exhibitor and speaker registration, payment configuration, confirmations and attendee communications.
Configure and validate integrations between event platforms and client systems, including association management systems, CRM, abstract management, housing, badging and lead retrieval using native connectors and REST APIs.
Establish and maintain build standards, reusable templates and QA checklists so programs are delivered consistently regardless of who builds them.
Administer Etherio platform accounts and support the strategic platform partnerships, including account structure, provisioning, licensing utilization and release adoption.
Lead, coach and develop the event technology team, including project assignments, prioritization, performance management and career development.
Own the program intake and resourcing plan by assigning builds, balancing concurrent program workload across the team, and escalating capacity risk before it reaches a client deadline.
Document repeatable solutions and enable account and program teams so questions that do not require technical expertise are resolved independently.
Partner with the VP of Technology on vendor management, contract renewals, platform evaluations and the technology roadmap for the event portfolio.
Support technology onboarding for newly signed clients and newly acquired organizations, including platform assessment, migration planning and standards adoption.
Provide onsite event technology support at client programs, including registration and badging operations, mobile app support, onsite hardware and live issue resolution.
Build the onsite technology staffing and contingency plan for each program: who travels, what equipment is required, and what happens when connectivity or hardware fails.
Bachelor’s degree in information technology, information systems, business or a related field (or equivalent experience and certifications)
At least 8+ years of event technology experience within a meetings and events agency, association management company, or corporate in-house meetings function, including 3 or more years leading, mentoring or supervising technical staff
Demonstrated expertise building in Cvent is required including registration and event websites, attendee hub and mobile app, session and speaker management, reporting, and onsite solutions such as OnArrival and badging
Direct client-facing consultative experience: requirements gathering, solution recommendation, scoping, level-of-effort estimation and executive-level presentation
Proven delivery of event technology across programs of varied size and complexity, from small executive meetings through large annual conferences
Working knowledge of integration concepts and REST APIs, and the judgement to know when an integration is the right answer and when it is not
Familiarity with database and reporting concepts (e.g., SQL or platform-native query tools) for extracting, validating and reconciling attendee data
Practical understanding of data privacy and payment handling expectations in registration design, including personal data and consent
Direct experience managing software vendors and implementation partners, holding them accountable to committed scope, timelines and deliverables
Excellent customer service and communication skills, including strong follow up and the ability to translate between non-technical client staff and technical vendors
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills and upbeat personality
Good time management skills are a must as multiple clients, programs and team priorities are worked on concurrently
Comfort operating in a role where requirements continue to take shape as client programs and environments are assessed
Ability to travel up to 40%, including weekends, early mornings and extended onsite days during program execution
Cvent certifications (e.g., Cvent Certified Event Management, Advanced Event Management, Attendee Hub or OnArrival)
Hands-on Stova experience, and familiarity with additional platforms or standalone event mobile applications
Experience supporting association and nonprofit programs, including abstract management, continuing education credit, exhibitor and sponsorship management
Experience with association management systems (e.g., MemberSuite, iMIS, YourMembership, MemberClicks) and data flow or single sign-on between an AMS and event platforms
Experience integrating platforms using middleware or iPaaS tooling, and familiarity with identity standards (Microsoft Entra ID, SAML, OAuth)
CMP, PMP, DES or comparable industry certification
