The Director, Estate and Gift Planning is part of a team that generates one of the largest revenue sources for the Society. The Director builds, cultivates, and stewards relationships with planned giving prospects, donors, and estate and financial planning professionals to secure and retain planned gifts supporting our mission.

This is a permanently remote position based in Houston, Texas.

Major Responsibilities
  1. Meet with prospects, donors, and professional advisors to share information about the Society’s planned giving program and our lifesaving work.
  2. Manage a portfolio of qualified prospects through various stages of moves management, including identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  3. Achieve annual targets for personal visits, planned gift proposals, and new planned gift commitments.
  4. Use Salesforce to track, qualify, and report contacts and progression through stages of moves management.
  5. Collaborate with major gift colleagues to expand gift proposals and cultivate additional prospects.
  6. Stay current on estate and gifting techniques, tax laws, and charitable giving trends.
  7. Be knowledgeable about the Society’s work in cancer research, patient support, prevention, and treatment.
  8. Model collaborative behavior aligned with the Society’s values.
Formal Knowledge
  • Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years of nonprofit fundraising or related experience.
  • Experience in planned giving and/or major gifts preferred.
Specialized Training or Knowledge
  • Experience with planned giving software is preferred.

Physical and Mental Demands
