Job summary

The role requires a decade of regulatory and policy experience, with strong leadership capabilities and a background in energy markets and transmission planning.

Qualifications

Job Summary

Responsible for representing and leading ERCOT market advocacy and insight into market fundamentals and trends in the ERCOT region in support of the Company’s operational and strategic goals.

Directs the development and execution of ERCOT electric market policy strategy and advocacy efforts. Provides strategic leadership and executive-level guidance on electric market design, transmission planning, regulatory and reliability matters that impact the Company's operational, financial, and business objectives. Serves as the senior representative of the Company with ERCOT staff, industry organizations, policymakers, and key stakeholders.

Essential Functions

• In coordination with applicable business unites and regulatory leadership develops and leads the Company market policy strategy related to ERCOT market design, reliability standards, transmission planning, resource adequacy, grid modernization, and emerging industry trends.
• Serve as the Company's senior representative in ERCOT stakeholder processes, industry working groups technical conferences, workshops, and policy forums.
• Directs the development of Company positions on proposed ERCOT protocols, market rules, ERCOT regulatory requirements, and other initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise objectives.
• Lead cross-functional teams and subject matter experts in evaluating the operational, financial, reliability, and strategic impacts of ERCOT market changes and policies revisions.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with ERCOT leadership, ERCOT staff, industry associations, ERCOT market participants, and other external stakeholders.
• Influence and advocate for policies and market outcomes that support the Company's strategic, operational, and customer-focused goals.
• Oversee the Company's participation in Regional Planning Group activities and guide ERCOT regulatory strategy related to transmission planning and infrastructure investments.
• Monitor and assess emerging market and reliability issues and develop proactive strategies to address potential risks and opportunities.
• Lead, develop, and mentor regulatory affairs professionals while fostering a high-performance, collaborative team environment.
• Collaborate with internal business units, Legal, Government Affairs, Operations, Engineering, Planning, and executive leadership to ensure coordinated ERCOT strategy and advocacy.

Education Description

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university required. Post-graduate degree (e.g., MBA or JD) from an accredited college or university is preferred.

Experience

Minimum of ten (10) years regulatory affairs, public policy, energy markets, electric utility operations, regulatory agencies, ISO/RTO organizations, or related fields.

Demonstrated experience influencing regulatory policy, market design, policy initiatives, or major industry stakeholder processes.

Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and engaging with executive leadership, regulators, policymakers, and external stakeholders.

Prior leadership experience highly preferred.
