I. JOB SUMMARY:

A Director functions at a high organizational level, providing leadership and direction in the development and implementation of strategic and innovative initiatives to further the mission of The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS) and its affiliates. Anticipates problems and other needs and seeks solutions to assure the on-going operations of QMC. Is highly skilled in facilitating interactions among organizational departments and functions. Promotes teamwork and collaboration; is results-oriented. A director reports to an executive; is accountable for functions and/or activities at the organization but may also have responsibilities supporting operations at other QHS entities or other affiliated organizations. He/she is accountable for outcomes and results to achieve the annual goals and objectives approved by the Board of Trustees. Makes a significant contribution to patient care quality and service. Functions as an organizational leader who promotes collaboration, innovation, accountability and operations execellence. Recognizes and supports the unique heritage and mission established by the founders, Queen Emma and King Kamehameha IV.

The Director serves as a senior operational leader responsible for strategic direction, operational performance, regulatory compliance, financial stewardship, and continuous improvement of key support service functions across assigned entities of The Queen’s Health Systems (QHS). This role provides leadership for Environmental Services (EVS) for The Queen's Medical Center (QMC) Manamana and Kahi Mohala and Central Transport, Courier, and Mail Services for QMC Manamana,, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered operations that support the mission, vision, and values of QHS.

Operating within a high-performing, multi-site academic and trauma healthcare environment, the Director aligns EVS, and Central Transport/Courier/Mail Services operations with enterprise priorities related to patient safety, clinical throughput, infection prevention, patient experience, workforce engagement, operational resilience, and financial stewardship. The role supports the operational demands of a high-acuity trauma and tertiary care environment while ensuring consistency, standardization, scalability, and service excellence across multiple hospitals and care settings.

The Director collaborates closely with executive leadership, clinical leaders, operational departments, and vendor partners to develop integrated service strategies that enhance organizational performance and patient outcomes. This position is accountable for operational results, regulatory readiness, service quality, labor and productivity performance, and the successful execution of strategic initiatives that advance support services as a coordinated, data-driven enterprise function.

IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A. EDUCATION:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Graduate degree preferred.

B. CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

• Certified Health Care Environmental Services Professional (CHESP) certification preferred.

C. EXPERIENCE:

• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in Environmental Services, Housekeeping, Linen Services or Patient Transport.
• Two (2) years supervisory/management experience in healthcare or large-scale hospitality/facilities operation with multi-site accountability.
• Experience to demonstrate strategic planning and execution, financial acuity and capital planning.
• Experience to demonstrate successful implementation of projects and initiatives which have major impact to the organization.
• Demonstrated knowledge in vendor governance and performance-based contracts.
• Demonstrated skills in change management and leading insource/outsource transitions.
• Demonstrated advanced data literacy and operations analytics; dashboarding and KPI management.
