Qualifications

• Ten+ years in enterprise technology, including at least five years leading architecture or a closely related function.
• Experience leading complex modernization, integration, or transformation programs.
• Demonstrated experience with API‑first, event‑driven, and microservices‑based solutions.
• Significant Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 experience.
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise AI solutions, including AI platforms, agents, integrations, data considerations, security, and responsible‑use controls.
• Strong executive, business, and technical communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead Waldinger's enterprise architecture strategy, standards, and decision‑making practices across applications, infrastructure, cloud services, integrations, data, and emerging technologies.
• Build and lead a team of Enterprise Architects, and create practical governance that helps teams move quickly while managing cost, risk, and complexity.
• Own technology strategy for Azure, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Entra ID, Purview, Defender, and Copilot; develop a two‑to‑three‑year technology roadmap aligned with business strategy.
• Work as a peer with the other technology directors and the leaders of the PMO and IT Delivery.

Director, Enterprise Architecture & Technology Enablement

The Waldinger Corporation | Des Moines, IA

Waldinger is a growing company with four distinct operating units: Waldinger Construction, TWC Services, Waldinger Service, and Quality Manufacturing. We are modernizing core business platforms, expanding the responsible use of artificial intelligence, and strengthening the technology capabilities that support our field and office teams.

The Director will serve as the senior architecture and technology strategy leader within the IT organization. Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, this leader will guide enterprise technology direction, establish practical standards, strengthen delivery teams, and ensure technology investments support long‑term business goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Enterprise Architecture & Technology Leadership: Lead Waldinger's enterprise architecture strategy, standards, and decision‑making practices across applications, infrastructure, cloud services, integrations, data, and emerging technologies. Build and lead a team of Enterprise Architects, and create practical governance that helps teams move quickly while managing cost, risk, and complexity.
• Modern Integration & Platform Design: Lead modern integration solutions, including API‑first, event‑driven, and microservices‑based approaches where they provide clear value. Establish common integration standards and reusable capabilities, and guide the selection of enterprise platforms, cloud services, and software products.
• Technology Enablement, Microsoft & AI: Own technology strategy for Azure, Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Entra ID, Purview, Defender, and Copilot. Lead Waldinger's approach to AI governance, adoption, and responsible use, including building the AI Center of Excellence. Develop and communicate a two‑to‑three‑year technology roadmap aligned with business strategy.
• Shared Leadership & Partnership: Work as a peer with the other technology directors and the leaders of the PMO and IT Delivery.

Required Qualifications

• Ten or more years of enterprise technology experience, including at least five years leading architecture or a closely related function
• Experience leading complex modernization, integration, or transformation programs
• Demonstrated experience with API‑first, event‑driven, and microservices‑based solutions
• Significant Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 experience

• Strong executive, business, and technical communication skills
