ŌURA is seeking a Director, Hardware Engineering Program Management to lead the hardware PMO across multiple product lines from our San Francisco hybrid office. You will manage senior EPMs and TPMs, shape the organization, and align Product, Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain around portfolio trade-offs.

You bring 10+ years in technical programs, deep hardware development experience, and proven leadership.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of experience leading or working on technical projects and programs.
• Deep understanding of hardware development including mechanical, electrical and firmware.
• Experience guiding go-to-market strategies for hardware.
• Strong communication and leadership across cross-functional teams.

• Lead EPMs and TPMs, setting expectations for impact, judgment, and leadership.
• Own hiring strategy, succession planning, and leveling standards for the EPM organization.
• Raise the functional bar for hardware program management across Hardware PMO.
• Drive a culture of accountability, clarity, constructive challenge, and predictable execution.
• Set execution strategy for integrated engineering delivery across electrical, mechanical, firmware, system test, reliability, compliance, and manufacturing interfaces.
• Escalation authority for material program risk and cross-program conflicts.
• Ensure credible schedules, clear critical paths, well-managed dependencies, and staffed workstreams.
• Oversee prototype to launch readiness activities.

the company is seeking an experienced and strategic Director, Hardware Engineering Program Management to lead Hardware PMO’s contribution to one or more major product lines.This leader will be accountable for the health, predictability, and execution quality of the hardware program portfolio within their scope. The role will lead senior EPMs and TPMs, shape the organization and operating model, establish the functional bar for engineering program management, and serve as an escalation authority when programs are at risk.The ideal candidate combines deep experience delivering complex consumer hardware with executive-level judgment, strong people leadership, technical credibility, and the ability to align Product, Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, and other senior stakeholders around portfolio trade-offs.

What You Will Do:

• Manage and develop senior EPM & TPMs and establish clear expectations for impact, judgment, technical program management, and leadership.
• Own the hiring strategy, succession planning, performance management, career development, and leveling standards for the EPM organization.
• Establish and continuously raise the functional bar for engineering program management across Hardware PMO.
• Build a culture of accountability, clarity, constructive challenge, and predictable execution.
• Set the execution strategy and operating expectations for integrated engineering delivery across electrical, mechanical, firmware, system test, reliability, compliance, and manufacturing interfaces.
• Serve as the escalation authority for material program risk, cross-program conflicts, and decisions that affect product-line commitments.
• Ensure programs have credible schedules, clear critical paths, well-managed dependencies, and appropriately staffed workstreams.
• Strengthen execution through Prototype, EVT, DVT, PVT, validation, and launch-readiness activities.

This is a hybrid role out of our San Francisco office.

What you'll bring

• 10+ years of experience leading or working on technical projects and programs
• Understanding of Hardware Development including mechanical, electrical and firmware
• Deep understanding of the NPI process and what it takes to bring an idea to market
• Understand the complexities of hardware development and experience leading teams through a go to market experience
• Worked on complex hardware development projects preferably in a startup environment
• Great communication skills, both written and verbal
• A Drive for Results, willingness to learn and push the team to deliver on time and under budget
• A desire to learn new things and accept challenges
• Comfort speaking to all audiences and the ability to adapt complex challenges into tangible solutions

While most offers will be closer to the starting range, successful candidates' pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, internal peer equity, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
