Bank of New York Mellon seeks a Director, Engineering Group Leader in Pittsburgh, PA, to deliver technology solutions within the Product / Platform. Drive on‑time completion of analysis, design, development, testing, and release of critical applications in partnership with the Product / Platform Manager.
Guide production issues, support, and root‑cause analysis to remove blockers; ensure application of tech development best practices in alignment with standards and the technical roadmap set by the Engineering Lead; coordinate product‑specific tech vendor assessment and ensure vendor accountability; and escalates incidents or concerns to the Engineering Lead for resolution as needed.
Identify technical dependencies and needs across pods (e.g., for resourcing, design implications, technical debt); liaise with pod‑level engineers and developers on issues and questions; provide technical feedback to Product Owners, integrating input across all technical teams (including solutions architecture and design); collaborate with the Engineering Lead to identify opportunities for new technologies in the Product / Platform through research and continuous improvement; and track adherence to tech development KPIs with regular aggregated reporting of progress across pods.
Remote work may be permitted within a commutable distance from the worksite.
Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering (any), or a related field, and ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in the job offered or in a related IT occupation.
Ten years of progressively responsible experience must include designing and developing scalable, high‑performing, and robust microservices using Java, Spring Boot Framework, Maven, REST APIs, IBM MQ, and Oracle PL/SQL; improving application resiliency by fixing vulnerabilities identified using SonarQube and Veracode; identifying issues in Splunk logs and providing solutions; utilizing Agile software development methodology and building software in incremental iteration in a SCRUM framework; deploying applications in containerized environments using knowledge of Docker and CI/CD pipeline; improving software delivery capabilities via automation and repeatability; and performing code reviews, coding assignments, and defining and implementing best‑in‑class standards.
BNY offers highly competitive compensation, benefits, and wellbeing programs rooted in a strong culture of excellence and the pay‑for‑performance philosophy. The base salary is expected to be $191,000.00–$267,000.00 per year at the commencement of employment, varying based on experience and market location. The compensation package may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short‑term and long‑term incentive packages, and company‑sponsored benefit programs.
