As the Director of Employee Relations reporting to the VP of People Experience, you will play a pivotal role in shaping a positive workplace culture across our global organization, supporting employees to do their best work. This position is responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive employee relations policies and procedures aligned with our organizational values. You will lead initiatives related to HR governance, resolve workplace conflicts, address employee concerns, and conduct thorough workplace investigations.

The Director of Employee Relations will ensure consistency, transparency, and accountability in employment policies and practices. With a deep understanding of employment legislation, you will navigate and uphold company and industry regulations, fostering trust and collaboration across our diverse workforce. StackAdapt is a Remote First company and we are open to candidates located anywhere in the US for this position.

What you'll be doing:
  1. Implement Policies and Procedures: Operationalize new or revised People policies in collaboration with HR and other key departments (e.g., IT, Legal, Finance). Develop and implement compliance procedures for organization-wide HR policies, providing interpretations, opinions, and recommendations on policy application.
  2. Workplace Resolution and Accommodations: Address workplace conflicts, conduct formal investigations into employee allegations, manage and resolve complex employee relations matters, and handle accommodation requests, collaborating with HR Benefits and third-party vendors as needed.
  3. Employee Agreements and Terminations: Oversee negotiations for employment agreements, ensure legal and regulatory compliance, and guide leaders during terminations, reviewing related documentation with Legal.
  4. Employee Relations Consulting: Provide expert advice to HR Business Partners and leaders on employee relations issues, developing and updating relevant templates, and recommending disciplinary actions.
  5. ER Enablement/Metrics: Develop and track key employee relations metrics, using data insights to identify patterns, mitigate risks, and improve workplace policies.
What you'll bring to the table:
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in Employee Relations, with supporting experience in other HR functions.
  • Exceptional understanding of legislative requirements in Canada/US (in partnership with legal).
  • Strong business partnership skills, leveraging business acumen for timely recommendations.
  • Deep experience in policy drafting and implementation, with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent planning, problem-solving, decision-making, and negotiating skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, adaptable to various levels of employees and senior leadership.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and conflict management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple demands and prioritize work effectively.
